☀️ Coming in 2026 — COMMON GROUND

Mental fitness comes from talking to, and showing up for each other. Young men aged 16–25 are welcome to come along and get involved in Common Ground.

Once a month we run a free activity — could be footy, a café catch-up, a BBQ, a walk, or just hanging out. It’s not therapy. It’s simply a chance to meet people, have a yarn, and build some solid connections. Come by yourself or bring a mate.

Keen to join in?
Check out the schedule at the link below, give us a call on (08) 9842 9871, or email info@headspacealbany.com.au to find out when the next event is.

It’s all about showing up, hanging out, and staying connected.

Today marks the beginning of 16 Days in WA — Stop Violence Against Women, running from 25 Nov to 10 Dec 🧡

This year’s theme is “Stopping Family and Domestic Violence: Play your part.”

💚At headspace Albany, we believe that mental health, respectful relationships, and community support go hand in hand. Here’s how you can help make a difference during these 16 days (and beyond):

➡️Listen with compassion. If someone opens up about experiencing abuse, take them seriously, believe them, and reassure them they’re not at fault.

➡️Be ready with support. Keep helpline numbers handy so you can share them safely:
🧡Women’s Domestic Violence Helpline: 1800 007 339
🧡1800RESPECT: 1800 737 732
🧡Men’s Domestic Violence Helpline: 1800 000 599

➡️Call out harmful behaviour. Whether it’s sexist language, jokes, or controlling behaviour — speak up when it's safe to do so. Small moments can shift culture.

➡️Model respect online. Use your platforms to share positive, respectful messages. What you say matters.

➡️Teach and learn. Talk to young people in your life about healthy relationships, consent, and equality.

If you or someone you know is struggling, you’re not alone. headspace Albany is here to support you — reach out for a chat, counselling, or just to find out what help is available in our region 🧡💚

💬 Social media changes – here’s what you need to know

You might have seen some news about a social media “ban” or delay for young people under 16. It’s normal to feel a bit confused, worried or even frustrated about what it might mean — so here’s a quick summary of the facts 👇

🌱 What’s happening
From 10 December 2025, new rules will mean that most social media platforms won’t allow Australians under 16 to create or keep accounts.
These changes are part of a plan to help make online spaces safer for young people.

💡 What’s not changing
➡️Some services — like Messenger, WhatsApp, Discord, Roblox, Steam, Google Classroom, LEGO Play and YouTube Kids — are currently exempt from the ban.
➡️You won’t be asked to show ID or use a government digital ID to prove your age.
➡️It’s up to the platforms to follow the rules — not you or your family.

💚 If you’re feeling unsure
Change can feel big, especially when it’s something that affects how you connect with friends or express yourself. You don’t have to figure it out alone — the team at headspace Albany is here to chat about what this means for you, how you’re feeling, or ways to stay connected offline.

🎓 Term 4 Study & Stress Survival Guide 💚
As we head into the final stretch of the year, it’s totally normal to feel stressed with study loads, exams, assignments and everything in between. You’re not alone 💚

Here are some top tips from us to help you stay on top of your game and look after your mental health -

📎Build a routine + study space
• Find a spot that works for you — even if it’s not perfect, make it yours.
• Set up a simple schedule: when you’ll study + when you’ll take breaks.
• Break big tasks into smaller bites — it makes things feel way less overwhelming.

📌Study smart — not just hard
• Prioritise what needs your attention most.
• Mix up your study style — group sessions, flashcards, new locations.
• Use breaks! A short walk, snack or stretch can reset your brain.

📘Take care of you
• Sleep, food, movement — your brain works better when your body’s looked after.
• Stay connected with friends and family — you don’t have to go through it alone.
• Set boundaries: when study ends and life begins. You deserve downtime.

✏️Keep stress in check
• Remember: you are more than a mark or a score.
• Try breathing or mindfulness when things feel heavy.
• If it gets too much — reach out. Talking helps.

🏆Celebrate the wins
• Finished a draft? ✅
• Did one extra week of revision? ✅
• Planned something fun after your study blocks? ✅
Big or small — recognise what you’re doing. Your effort matters.

💚 You’ve got this!
If you need a bit of extra support, a chat, or a quiet space to reset — headspace Albany is here for you.
