Youth Week 2026 = DONE & DUSTED πŸŽ‰

We had the best time celebrating young people across Albany and Denmark last week β€” two epic days full of connection, creativity, and good vibes πŸ’›

From colour runs and chaos (the fun kind) to chill zones, music, and meaningful chats β€” it was so good to see young people showing up, being themselves, and sharing their stories. That’s what it’s all about.

A big shoutout to everyone who stopped by, had a yarn, got involved in our activities, or just came to say hey πŸ‘‹

Youth Week’s theme this year was β€œStrength in Our Stories” β€” and wow, did our community show that in action.

Already keen for next year tbh πŸ‘€

✨ Youth Week WA 2026 ✨

From 10–16 April, we celebrate Youth Week WA β€” a time dedicated to recognising, uplifting and empowering young people across our communities πŸ’š

Youth Week is all about creating space for young people to be heard, share their stories, and have a say in the world around them. Because when young people feel seen and valued, it strengthens not just individuals β€” but our whole community.

At headspace Albany, this is something we’re passionate about every day.

We work alongside young people by:
πŸ’š Listening β€” creating safe, supportive spaces where young people can share their experiences
πŸ’š Amplifying youth voice β€” through our youth reference group, headspace Advisory Committee, where young people help shape what we do
πŸ’š Valuing lived experience β€” including paying young people for their time and contributions when they share their stories and support our events
πŸ’š Supporting wellbeing β€” providing free, youth-friendly mental health support

We believe young people are the experts in their own lives β€” and their stories matter.

πŸŽ‰ We’re proud to be supporting the City of Albany at their Youth Week event this Saturday 11 April. Come down, connect, and celebrate the incredible young people in our community.

International Transgender Day of Visibility 🩡🩷🀍

We celebrate transgender and gender-diverse people, their courage, and the incredible contributions they make to our communities. Visibility matters β€” it helps challenge stigma, raise awareness, and create a world where everyone can be seen and valued for who they are.

Let’s lift up trans voices, honour their experiences, and keep showing up for each other.

Today and every day πŸ’š

🧑 Harmony Day at NASHS 🧑

Josh and Jamie had the best time at NASHS celebrating Harmony Day with an activity all about belonging πŸ’¬

Harmony Day is a celebration of Australia’s cultural diversity β€” bringing people together to recognise that everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and included. Celebrated annually on March 21, it began in 1999 to coincide with the United Nations’ International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, with an Australian focus on celebrating multiculturalism. It’s also a reminder that creating safe, welcoming spaces isn’t just important for one week of the year, but something we can all contribute to every day.

Students helped us create a β€œWhat Helps Me Feel Like I Belong?” puzzle β€” each piece sharing something that helps them feel safe, connected, and included. When all the pieces came together, it created a powerful picture of community 🧩

Some of the responses were incredibly heartwarming and thought-provoking… from friendships and family, to feeling accepted, safe at school, and able to be yourself. It was such a great reminder of how important connection, kindness, and inclusion are in our everyday lives.

Thank you to everyone who took part β€” your voices matter, and together you created something really special πŸ’›

What an incredible day at the Albany Pride Fair Day! 🌈

The love, colour and support shown for our community was amazing to see, and we’re so grateful to have been there alongside so many wonderful people and services. Events like this are such a great reminder of how important connection, inclusion and celebrating diversity really are.

Our headspace Albany team had a fantastic time chatting with young people, sharing what we do, and making Pride keyrings at our stall.

A special shout-out to our manager Andrew, who had the very important job of judging the dog show 🐢 β€” which he’s now claiming as one of his greatest life achievements πŸ˜‚

And a huge thank you to the team at Albany Pride for putting on such a fantastic event and for all the amazing events they’ve run throughout the festival. The work you do to bring our community together is truly incredible πŸ’›

Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat or joined in the fun. We loved being part of such a welcoming and supportive day for our LGBTQIA+ community 🌈
