The PDA conference in Perth today is probably the best conference I have been to. It was hard to choose which of the 3 rooms to be in! The best thing was the sensory accommodations. I usually struggle greatly to stay focused and cope during such long seated presentations. I was able to sit on the floor, move around, and fidget to my heart's content. 5 stars!

Hi All,

We are excited to introduce a new service at Prestage Occupational Therapy: speech pathology appointments with our experienced and compassionate speech pathologist, Sharon Sullivan. Sharon will be offering online telehealth sessions to existing clients only at this stage (available immediately) with intensive in-person visits available 2-3 times yearly for face-to-face reviews (from 2025, dates TBC).

Sharon is a senior speech pathologist with a wealth of experience in child-led, evidence-based therapy and like all our staff, she is committed to a neurodiversity-affirming approach. Her specialisations include:

• Social communication skills and Hanen “More Than Words” programs
• Support for vision impairments
• Swallowing and feeding therapy
• Speech sound assessments and PROMPT motor speech articulation treatment
• Literacy support through Sounds Write
• Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) support and trials

We look forward to enhancing our support for you with this new service. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or would like to schedule a telehealth appointment.

Today we had our first group and it was awesome! We had a really good turnout with seven humans attending.

Sometimes I was called fussy.
Sometimes other names.
None of it helped it just added pressure.
What I needed was to make my own options.
I didn’t want a fuss or attention.
I needed home and calm and relaxed.
I needed safe foods.
Not people asking me about it.
Not dining tables and strange places.
These stopped me eating.
I wanted home where it tasted like it should.
No names, no saying I had a thing wrong with me.
Because eventually I ate.
In my own time with chats and relaxed times.
