Healthy lungs are incredibly important, now more than ever with the covid-19. Wondering why?

When we shallow breathe, we don't use the entire lung capacity, only the top areas of the lungs are working. This means that the bottom parts of the lungs are not used regularly, and can become necrotic, a breeding ground for bugs! Deep breathing, aka diaphragmatic breathing, uses the entire lung space, getting the old static air out, and fresh air in.

💙 To keep the lungs healthy, we need to open our chest to allow the full movement of the lungs to occur.
Try taking a deep breath in, then hold the air in, and try to be breathe in a little bit more. Hold this for 10 seconds and slowly exhale (you could start with 5secs if 10 is too much), until you can't exhale anymore. Really push all the air out.
* Repeat twice, and gradually increase to 15, then 20 seconds each repitition.

💙 Holding the air inside the lungs encourages the unused parts to start to work again, and emptying the lungs gets rid of the stale air.
This is a yoga breathing practice, or style of pranayama, called Breath Retention.

💙 Highly recommended for all people, although asthmatics need to be cautious with this exercise.

My Story

Hi I’m Kate, Thanks for visiting,

Every massage therapist provides their own style of massage. Each person has different needs and preferences, and it’s important that you get the treatment that works best for you.

About me:

Completed Diploma of Remedial Massage from 2010 - 2012. Then worked within a Perth gym and also at a Day Spa in Wembley, from there I started my own massage business and operated out of a Chiropractic clinic in Moora and then a Physiotherapy clinic in the same town. Along with Remedial Massage, I’ve also completed the three degrees of Reiki healing, Aromatherapy Massage, Hot Stone Massage, Fitness Instruction certification and Yoga Teacher training. Before learning massage I was enrolled into Naturopathy and learnt a great deal about herbal medicine and natural ways of healing the body. I like to combine various styles of massage such as deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy with stretching techniques such as muscle energy technique and PNF stretching, to massage away tension areas but also gently stretch the body towards better balance. I aim to create as much peace and relaxation as possible during each session, whilst working within your pressure preference.
