Week 3
Reduce, reuse and recycle

Our parent discussion this week focused on how we can reuse everyday items we find at home to create interesting and meaningful learning experiences for our children.

This weeks items were left over from a delivery I received at home; two large foam pieces and half a box! Add in some art and craft materials and we have created a fun and messy play space. Feel free to share your art and craft ideas using recycled materials.

Term 3

This week we welcomed everyone back for a busy first session. Today we focused on using familiar and inexpensive objects found at home to create art and craft activities. We used cars, textas, masking tape, paint, formula tin lids and white paper.

Using the masking tape we stuck a texta to each car and allowed the children to push the cars across the paper. What a fantastic fine motor activity! Then we placed a small amount of paint on to each of the formula tin lids and rolled our smaller cars in to the paint, and then across the paper to create different patterns.

2.5.23 ~ Due to the Anzac Day public holiday we had a later start but we are ready and raring for a fun filled Term 2. Welcome back to our returning families and we are excited to be meeting some new faces in the coming weeks.

At the beginning of each term the families and I set out some goals they would like to achieve, both for their child and for themselves. One of these goals is sensory exploration through play. A range of ‘simple to do at home’ sensory experiences will be introduced throughout the term.

Today we used a variety of items including wooden houses, diggers, bamboo cylinders and natural materials alongside kinetic sand. The children (and Mums) loved exploring the different ways the sand could be used either on its own or by using the other items available. So much fun 😊

Week 2 - Community engagement

Finding the time and the motivation to get out of the house with small children isn’t always easy, especially tackling unknown places such as play centres that can be quite busy and overwhelming. So today our parent focus was practicing getting out and about in our local community with the support of each other.

We attended Bounce in Wodonga and allowed the children to climb, jump, bounce, run and play whilst the parents chatted and enjoyed a coffee (when they weren’t sliding, bouncing or chasing their children!!) I’m sure some big sleeps were had afterwards; even the Mums!
