Lest we forget.

Today we pause to honour the courage, sacrifice and resilience of all who have served and continue to serve. We remember those who gave their lives and reflect on the strength and spirit that shapes our community.

At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them. ❤️

Today we recognise World Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Day 💛

Mental health begins from the very start of life. From infancy through to adolescence, every stage matters. The relationships, environments, and support systems around young people play a powerful role in shaping how they feel, grow, and connect with the world.

At Phoenix Wings Wellness, we believe in creating safe, supportive spaces where children and young people feel heard, understood, and valued. By encouraging open conversations, nurturing emotional awareness, and responding with compassion, we can help build strong foundations for lifelong wellbeing.

This day is a reminder that supporting mental health is not just about responding in times of struggle. It is about showing up every day with patience, care, and understanding.

Let’s continue to listen, learn, and support the young people in our lives 🤍

Our Be Brave program is here to gently support children as they build confidence, connection, and emotional strength in a safe and creative space.

Inspired by the Invisible String, this 8-week journey helps children explore feelings, navigate separation anxiety, and develop social skills through expressive arts, mindfulness, and meaningful connection.

🧡 A space to feel safe
🧡A place to create and express
🧡 A chance to grow brave, one step at a time

Spots are limited for Term 2, and we’d love to welcome your child into this supportive group environment.

It’s okay to feel your emotions… all of them 🧡

Just like in Inside Out, every feeling has a purpose. Joy, sadness, anger, fear - they’re not “good” or “bad,” they’re simply part of being human. When we make space for our emotions instead of pushing them away, we begin to understand ourselves more deeply.

This month, we’re focusing on helping name, explore, and express emotions in safe and creative ways. Because every feeling deserves to be seen, heard, and supported.

How are you really feeling today?

Our emotions are always communicating something to us, even the ones we try to push aside. Taking a moment to check in can help you understand what you need, what might be building up, and how to respond in a way that feels safe and supportive?

You might be feeling calm, overwhelmed, excited, tired, or somewhere in between. Whatever shows up is valid.

Take a pause, check in with yourself, and ask
What am I feeling right now?
What do I need?

Let this be your reminder that your feelings matter 🤍

Self awareness is at the heart of understanding our emotions. It is the ability to pause, reflect, and notice what is happening within us without judgement.
It can look like recognising when you feel overwhelmed and taking a moment to breathe. It can be naming your emotions instead of pushing them aside. It can be understanding your triggers, setting boundaries, or choosing to respond rather than react.

Self awareness is not about having it all figured out. It is about gently getting to know yourself, your patterns, and your needs.

This month at Phoenix Wings Wellness, we are focusing on building emotional self awareness, creating space for reflection, and learning how to support ourselves with kindness and understanding.

What does self awareness look like for you? 💛

The phoenix must burn to emerge...

Melanie holds a Masters in Social Work from La Trobe University, and has a special interest in trauma and domestic violence. She works well with a wide age range, but especially with children, adolescents and parents. Melanie previously worked as a Family Services Practitioner at Upper Murray Family Care, and is experienced at working with the whole family, with the view that our relationships with others, especially our families, impact significantly on our capacity to grow and heal. Melanie is able to bulk bill services when a MHTP and (GP) referral is provided, and incorporates creative expression in to her sessions as required.

Melanie completed her Certificate of Initiatic Art Therapy in April 2015 with the Institute for Sensorimotor Art Therapy & School for Initiatic Art Therapy, and the Certificate of Clay Field Therapy on May 22nd, 2016. At the beginning of 2017, Melanie enrolled at MIECAT to begin her Masters in Therapeutic Arts Practice.

Mel help clients to resolve their presenting psychological problems, the associated social and other environmental problems, and improve their quality of life. This may involve family as well as individual counselling, and group therapy (some groups may be run on a regular basis). She recognises the broader implications of an individual having a mental illness and the impact on friends, family, work and education. Mel welcomes diversity including all body sizes, abilities, races, sexualities, genders, religions and political values.
