Yesterday marked ✋🏼✋🏼TEN YEARS in business as Courtney Gordon Myotherapy & what a ride it’s been.

From starting out as a young and inexperienced little Myo / to all the changes, challenges and growth that has transpired in the past decade.
I can confidently say I’ve loved every minute.

Myotherapy is absolutely one of my passions in life. Helping people. The connection. The problem solving. Seeing real change. Theres really no better feeling than having a career you love.

I am so so SO grateful for everyone who has supported me since the start and throughout my journey. Especially those from the very beginning that still book in today, id name you but 😅 I really have no words for the loyalty and kindness and the friendships that have come with it.

I’ve always believed a huge part of being a good Health Practitioner is really knowing your client. Their family, their career, their hobbies, their life. This way treatment can be offered on a holistic level to ensure I can always aim for the best possible result. Our bodies are so much more than how we move. They’re intertwined with how we sleep, how we think, what we eat, our stress levels, our self care etc.

The added benefit to aiming for this level of understanding is the genuine connection I have with so many of my clients, who have watched and now know my family, my hobbies, my sport, my life.

Life is about connection.
Life is about happiness.
Life is about health.
Life is about living.

Myotherapy has provided all of these for me.

So THANK YOU. Whether you’ve followed my journey, supported my journey or actively booked in, to be a better and more functional version of yourself, thank you for valuing your wellbeing and thank you for letting me play a small role in your story, as you’ve all played such a special role in mine.

Special mention to my husband for always prioritising my career and supporting me with getting back into work when I’ve wanted to, and our three little wild children who now think everyone i say hello to in public is a “client” 🙃😆

Now, here’s to the next 20
(and then I’m retiring, start bumping up the super babe 😉😆)

CUPPING PROGRESSION + RECOVERY

Day 1 (2 hours after treatment) 👉🏼 Day 7

Photo 2 shows the progression every day over the next 6 days.

Note the colour of the initial ‘bruising’ is quite intense 🫣😅 the red to deep purple colouring displays moderate to severe stagnation with toxin accumulation in the tissue.

The colour isn’t actually a bruise, it’s tiny broken blood capillaries / blood vessels being drawn to the surface of the skin so your body can work to refresh stagnated blood and remove built up waste products like lactic acid by bringing oxygen and nutrients to the tissue.
Cupping is essentially pain free, although, some discomfort can be felt if the cups are moved over the tissue, or during the initial suction, if they are left stationary.

Cupping can
- help with circulation,
- reduce inflammation,
- ease muscle tension
- reduce pain and
- improve joint range of motion.
- give you a couple of extra minutes of peace and kindness from your young children as for a second they believe you’ve been attacked by an octopus 🐙

Aftercare involves hydration and rest.
I did one of those easier than the other 🫩😆

Is cupping something you’d be interested in?
Let me know and if it’s practicable, we can add it to your next treatment 🤲🏼🔥

I absolutely over shared this podcast to my clients this week 😅 you know when you listen to something and it really just clicks. I basically felt like I was a cardiologist by the end of the two hours, ready to change the title on my business card to Doctor 🥸

Health podcasts can be so helpful in today’s society where we are becoming increasingly time poor, tighter with money, cost of living in rising, constantly overstimulated with information overload from contradicting doctors and health professionals pending on your individual goals.

Everyone has pockets of guaranteed time (EG driving in the car, during kids sports), to listen to professionals speak on topics that interest and benefit you.

The diary of a CEO is amazing and free on Spotify and he speaks to a vast variety of people with a diverse wealth of knowledge.

Educating ourselves around things we can be doing better, and slowly implementing into our daily routines can literally make the world of difference.

1% everyday can change your life.

I love the saying that if you only have 30 seconds to brush your teeth and not the suggested 2 minutes. You would still brush them. Because 30 seconds is still better than not brushing them at all.

Our health and lifestyle choices can be seen the same. If you can only walk 3 days a week and not 5. 3 days of walking is better than none.

So leave your excuses at home.
And do what you can.
When you can.

Without our health, we have nothing.

And just like that - all good things must come to an end, including our little family holiday. Not sure if I’d go as far as saying Im feeling refreshed off the back of a couple of weeks with 3 kids 😅 but my cup is overflowing so I’ll take that as a win.

I’m back in clinic tomorrow 🥳 the next available appointments are from Tuesday September 30th, so please jump online now if you haven’t already, to book in! If no times suit, reach out & I can pop you on the cancellation list.

See you in the clinic ✌🏼

10 000 STEPS A DAY KEEPS THE DOCTOR AWAY …. or at the very minimum they’re less needed 😅

Walking is so important for our overall health and comes with an array of benefits including
- Reduced risk of heart disease
- Reduced risk of Type 2 diabties
- Improved mood and energy
- Time away from your kids / partner 🤪
- Better bone and muscle strength
- Can help with positive weight management
- Can lower blood pressure and cholesterol
- Improves circulation and coordination
- Helps with healthy ageing and life longevity

The list can really go on and on, but surely those benefits alone have got you tying up your shoe laces.

Coming into spring, if you’re willing to risk your life from the magpies or brave the blossoming flowers and looking like a puffer fish, there’s no time like the present to get outside and get moving.

PSA - I purchased a watch online from Big W marketplace - purely so I could track my steps. It was $39!!! For an added win it also tracks my blood pressure and heart rate (may be less accurate if you have multiple children 😆), blood oxygen, sleep (also pointless if you have a baby, it won’t be tracking much 😴) plus many more cool functions.

My husband and I are also a little bit (very) competive, so starting a fun challenge, at the slight risk of seeing some unsportsmanlike behaviour, have set the challenge each day on holidays to hit 10000 steps. Nothing motivates you more than wanting to win right 🥇

Attached is also an interesting study/read around how many steps a day is ideal and why, for those who love some research and information.

In summary aiming for 7000- 12000 steps a day, dependent on your age and goals, is a great start to improving your overall health and wellbeing.

So, time to hit the pavement 🚶‍♀️🚶
