I’m fascinated by this tree on my property because half of it is dying and half of it is living. It’s a great metaphor and reminder for me about something I’ve learnt along my journey in life that I’d love to share with you:
Nature doesn’t stay in one perfect, static state, it’s always changing. And, because you are nature, you are always changing too – it’s in your blueprint. You are an ever-changing being in an ever-changing world. And yet, quite often we find ourselves clinging on so tightly to what’s known or comfortable, and we resist change.
I wonder if its our forever wanting to be in a perfect state that makes us feel broken when we experience anything other than what’s perceived as ideal. You’re not broken, you’re simply part of the ever-changing nature of life.
When I look at this tree it reminds me of the process of personal healing, growth and awakening. This process is not always quick, easy and pretty, and there are ups and downs. It can feel as though metaphorically parts of you are dying, while parts of you are still fully living (just like this tree). It can feel like the end of something but its also the beginning!
It can be scary going through change and sitting in the unknown…the in-between state of no longer being who you were but also not knowing who you are becoming. It requires trusting, surrendering, letting go, embracing the messiness and going with the flow.
Transformation is not possible without something ending first, whether that’s an old belief, story, paradigm, perspective, pattern, part of your ego or version of yourself that is no longer serving you. It requires you to fully surrender to the unknown while you embark on a long, deep initiation towards your own rebirth.
How are you being called to embrace change right now?
