✨ As December comes to a close… ✨

The days between Christmas and New Year can feel like a pause — a time to slow down, reflect, or simply catch your breath.

You don’t need to wrap the year up neatly or arrive at the new one with clarity or plans. It’s okay to end the year feeling tired, grateful, uncertain, or a mix of all three.

If you’re taking this time to rest, reflect, or simply get through the days, you’re doing enough.

Wishing you a gentle close to the year,
The MyLife Psychologists Team

The festive season isn’t easy for everyone 🎄

December can amplify grief, loneliness, stress, or emotional exhaustion - especially when there’s pressure to feel joyful or “grateful.” If this time of year feels heavy, you’re not alone, and there’s nothing wrong with you.

Our latest blog explores:
• Why grief and loneliness can intensify over the holidays
• How financial, family, and social pressures affect mental health
• Gentle, evidence-based ways to cope
• When it might help to reach out for professional support

You don’t have to push through or pretend you’re okay. Support can make this season feel more manageable.

Stress is inevitable - but burnout doesn’t have to be.

By recognising early signs, setting healthy boundaries, and using practical coping tools, we can protect our mental health and build resilience.

These strategies aren’t about removing all stress, but about learning to manage it effectively - with awareness, rest, and support.

At MyLife Psychologists, we help clients develop evidence-based coping strategies that support long-term wellbeing.

Connection isn’t just “nice to have” - it’s essential for maintaining good mental health.

Research shows that meaningful relationships protect against depression and anxiety, help us cope with stress, and promote overall wellbeing. Whether it’s through friends, colleagues, family, or community groups, connection gives us a sense of safety and belonging - and that’s a powerful form of prevention.

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚 - a global reminder that our mental health is deeply connected to the people and communities around us.

This year’s theme from Mental Health Australia, “Connect with Your Community,” highlights how belonging and shared purpose protect wellbeing.
Community can take many forms:
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Family and friends
🌳 A community garden or volunteer group
🎶 A choir or book club
🏳️‍🌈 An LGBTQIA+ network
🏃 A local running group
🏫 Your workplace or school
💬 Even online spaces where you feel understood

At MyLife Psychologists, we see connection as one of the most powerful protective factors for mental health. This World Mental Health Day, we encourage you to start a conversation, join a group, or simply reach out to someone who matters to you.
