Play doesn’t always look the way we expect - and that’s okay 💛
Autistic children may play differently, but their play is still meaningful, purposeful, and important for development. When we take the time to understand how they play, we can better support connection, regulation, and learning🧠
Instead of changing the way a child plays, we can follow their lead, join their world, and build from what already feels safe and enjoyable for them🧩
Remember, different doesn’t mean wrong!

Meltdowns can sometimes be overwhelming in sessions but at times sometimes less is more, your best calming tools aren’t fidgets, weighted blankets, or blowing bubbles, sometimes it’s a calm nervous system signaling to your client that they’re safe to feel their emotions with you. 🫶🏽😌
