Today is Purple Day, a global initiative to raise awareness of epilepsy.

If you live with epilepsy, it’s important to speak with your doctor if your seizures become more frequent, last longer than usual, or feel different from your normal pattern. Changes in symptoms or seizure activity may mean your treatment plan needs reviewing.

If you’ve noticed a change in your seizure pattern, book an appointment with your GP to discuss your symptoms and care plan.

These appointments are commonly needed for new roles, workplace requirements, licensing, or insurance applications. What’s included depends on what’s requested, but may involve a health history review, basic measurements, Q-Fever testing and any required tests or paperwork.

This week is Coeliac Awareness Week (13–20 March).

Coeliac disease doesn’t always look the same. Possible signs include ongoing bloating, abdominal discomfort, persistent fatigue, iron deficiency, or unexplained gut symptoms.

If you suspect coeliac disease, it’s important not to remove gluten before testing, as it can affect results.

We’re seeing gastro in the community at the moment, especially among school-aged children.

Most cases improve with rest and plenty of fluids. Seek medical advice sooner if there are signs of dehydration (very low urine, drowsiness), ongoing vomiting, blood in stool, high fever, or symptoms lasting more than a few days – especially for little ones, older adults, or anyone with health conditions.
