First time for a while that the stars have aligned to get out with some nice light and photograph the locals. I often get asked if I feed the birds, the simple and quick answer is yes. I only put seed out on days I intend to take photos and the seeds are from crops that grow on farms all around me. I also purposely have used tree roots and old stumps etc so the birds have to forage to get a feed rather than just a free feed. I have a large bird bath which is refreshed most days.

Last year some of you may recall we headed to Aramac to see the sculpture trail and on the way home we ran across a stunning sculpture display in Roma. Again this year between June and September they are coming back. Details are still being finalised so if you are interested follow Sculptures Out Back page for updates and information.

I finally found some sunflowers on my way home from Qld Raceways this afternoon. Rather than give away its exact location let’s play a game.
I’m not far off a main road, if you would love a pie and need fuel just look west. 😉
I’m sure if you pay attention you will have no problem finding them.

If you do head out the property is right on the road but this doesn’t mean you can wander around the paddock. Please be respectful and stay out and observe and photograph from a responsible distance.

My Australia Down Under

I created this page so I could share my love of this great country with like minded people. I am fortunate to be able to take my passion of photography along with my love of travelling to places many people never get to go and call it my job. I often travel with my wife Kim.

A big part of what I do involves photographing an amazing event each year known as the Great Endeavour Rally raising funds for people with an intellectual disability. Each year we head to amazing destinations, often places that the general public are not allowed to travel. We spend time on private properties, travels roads only the brave would challenge and enjoy the company of some amazing people.

I also have the opportunity to photograph some pretty cool events from V8 Supercars , Rally Australia , World Surf League events like the Quiksilver Pro on the Gold Coast and Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach in Victoria and The Australian Schools Sailing Titles at Lake Macquarie NSW.

In 2019 we are planning a five week long road trip , destination unknown other than picking up Kim from Perth airport after I drive across from Adelaide and dropping her back to Perth on the way back ( this will allow Kim to save 6 days of leave just getting to and from our start point ). Our only criteria are our start and finish dates . We hope to catch up with good friends who will be on road somewhere at sometime. In the past we have decided the direction of our trips by simply choosing left or right at the front gate a but with no plans other than a direction.
