We've all heard these phrases, we've all been there.

It's time we actually look into the research (high quality evidence) and see what it says regarding posture.
The relationship between posture and pain is not consistent and quite weak.
There is no best posture and we've been sold this myth of "best posture" for too long, everyone still believes it and try to maintain unnatural postures that often makes things worse.

There may be certain postures that cause pain or discomfort after an initial injury, which we may ask people to avoid in the "short term" to let things calm down and settle. However, once the sensitivity reduces, we encourage people to return back to those postures as fast as possible.

The posture is not the culprit. It's often the lack of movement and lack of changing position that causes to have discomfort/pain.
It's often loading into positions your body is not quite ready to maintain/perform is what causes pain.

As the famous phrase goes,
"Your best posture is your next posture"
