A parenting reassurance you may need right now...
It's Ok, you've got this.
Your child isn’t trying to ruin your life… even if it feels like it at 7:42am when socks are suddenly the worst thing ever invented 🧦
Most of the “difficult” moments I see in therapy aren’t about bad behaviour. They’re usually about:
👉 Big feelings
👉 Not enough skills (yet)
👉 Or a brain that’s gone, “Nope, we’re overwhelmed now”
Which means the goal isn’t to win the moment… it’s to understand what’s actually going on underneath it.
(Easier said than done when you’re running late and someone’s crying because their toast is “too toasty.”)
I’ve pulled together 5 simple, actually-useful ideas from a great resource I read recently, Ten Things I Wish You Knew About Your Child’s Mental Health, that come up again and again in sessions.
No perfection required. No parenting gold medals handed out. Just practical ways to make things a little easier.
