Today looks different for everyone.
For some it’s celebration, for others it’s quiet, rest, or just getting through the day.

However today finds you, please know you’re valued, supported, and not alone.

From all of us at New England Support Services, we’re wishing our clients, families, carers, and community a day filled with kindness, care, and moments that feel right for you 🤍

As the year wraps up, we just want to say thank you.
To our participants, families, coordinators and community partners across Armidale, Uralla, Guyra and Tamworth, we appreciate you more than we can say.
It’s been a big year, and we’re proud to be part of this community ❤️

No two people are the same, so support should never be one size fits all.

We take the time to understand what matters to each person and tailor support around their goals, routines, and preferences.

That’s what person-centred support really means to us.

As the year winds down, it’s a good reminder that progress doesn’t have to be big to matter.

Small steps, steady effort, and showing up still count 💙

💜 Feel Good Friday reminder: You are allowed to celebrate your wins, no matter how small they seem.

Progress looks different for everyone, and every step forward is something to be proud of.

The Clothesline Project is happening in Armidale today, led by the Armidale Women’s Shelter. This community project invites people to share messages of support on decorated T shirts, honouring the strength of survivors and raising awareness about domestic and family violence.

We strongly support this initiative and everything it stands for. Domestic and family violence needs far more awareness and focus. It is important to stand up, support it, educate our community and do what is right for victims so we can work toward a future where this harm no longer exists.

Creating space for voices to be heard is one way we build a kinder, safer community. We are grateful to the organisations and people who make this possible.

To our amazing NESS team, your kindness matters more than you realise.

Every conversation, every outing, every moment of patience can change someone’s day.

Keep going, you make an impact.

Not every win makes the headlines, but it’s the small moments that make the biggest difference.

A shared laugh.
A step toward independence.
A goal reached.

This week, we’re celebrating all the quiet wins in our community. ❤️

Say hello to Katie, one of our amazing Support Workers based in Tamworth!

What do you enjoy about your role?
“The best thing about my job is supporting people to engage in activities that bring them joy and a sense of purpose and fulfilment. I also love the constant learning in this role. I love learning about my clients’ unique strengths, perspectives and abilities, and empowering them to use these in positive and meaningful ways. Seeing clients make progress over time is also very rewarding. Knowing that I have contributed to helping clients gain new skills, grow their confidence, and inch closer towards goals that are important to them is why I love the job.”

What are you passionate about?
“I am passionate about social justice. I have a strong belief that opportunities and resources should be fairly distributed in society, and that we should all enjoy equal rights, regardless of our differences. I’m passionate about advocating against injustices and helping remove barriers for people to participate in society. I believe our differences should be celebrated and respected. I have a background in social work so a lot of this passion stems from the learning I did in that space.”

Fun fact about Katie
“I’m a massive foodie. I enjoy baking and cooking, but mostly enjoy the eating part. My favourite sightseeing activity when visiting a new country is to stroll the aisles of the supermarket or convenience store to check out their unique snacks. It’s the best cultural experience.”

We are so lucky to have Katie on the NESS team!

International Day of People with Disability is a reminder that inclusion is everybody’s job, not just today but all year round.

At NESS we listen to lived experience, remove barriers where we can, and walk alongside people with disability to live the life they choose across Armidale, Uralla, Guyra and Tamworth.

What is one small change you can make this week to help your home, workplace or community feel more accessible and welcoming? 💜
