Today we recognise World Stroke Day - a reminder that every year, thousands of Australians are impacted by stroke, and behind each diagnosis is a story of courage, resilience, and hope.

At ARC, we’re privileged to walk alongside incredible clients like Joseph, who experienced a stroke in 2022 and has shown unwavering commitment to his recovery. With the support of our multidisciplinary team and his own determination, Joseph recently achieved a major milestone, walking 10 metres without his walking stick for the first time!

Moments like these remind us why we do what we do. Stroke recovery takes patience, perseverance, and teamwork and every step forward deserves to be celebrated.

To everyone on their recovery journey this World Stroke Day, we see you, we support you, and we’re walking beside you every step of the way.

Last week, our own Dr Melissa McConaghy, had the honour of delivering the Founder’s Address at the Australian Physiotherapy Association College of Physiotherapists Specialist Graduation Ceremony.

In preparing her speech, Melissa reflected on how becoming a Specialist was a real turning point in her career, which in turn, has shaped the standards she holds herself to, and given her the confidence she brings to her practice and leadership today.

Her reflections beautifully highlighted the dedication and innovation that keep the profession moving forward. Congratulations to all 22 new Specialist Physiotherapists on this remarkable achievement. 👏

🌍 October is Dysautonomia Awareness Month 💙

Dysautonomia refers to a group of conditions that affect the autonomic nervous system — the part of your body that controls automatic functions like heart rate, blood pressure, digestion, and temperature regulation.

When this system doesn’t work properly, it can lead to a range of symptoms such as dizziness, fatigue, brain fog, and heart rate changes. One of the most common forms is Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which causes the heart rate to rise abnormally when standing up.

While living with dysautonomia can be challenging, awareness, early diagnosis, and the right management strategies can make a big difference.

🧠 Learn more about POTS and how exercise can help manage symptoms in our latest blog:
