Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mum. It has been such a challenging year but you still show up for me and my family everyday with love and kindness. And today, to have to say farewell to your beautiful sister and my Aunty Norma, seeing my cousins lose their Mum and you, your best friend, it’s just so sad. You really were two peas in a pod, yin and yang, the wind beneath each other’s wings. Both of you showed me how to be kind, and lead with loving kindness, always. You both loved me, and opened your hearts and homes to me without question. Today and everyday day, I witness my own children loving you and caring for you, leading with the loving kindness that you and Aunty Norma showed us through your actions. Happy birthday Mum, I’m thankful for every day I get to hug you and I’m so sad your best friend and sister left us this year. Keep shining bright Mum, you are so loved xx Aunty Norma, thank you for loving my Mum every day of your life! We miss you, and I promise I will look after Mum and love Mum the way you always did 💕

Happy Birthday to my beautiful Mum.
It has been such a challenging year but you still show up for me and my family everyday with love and kindness.

This is painted on the wall of my office . It took me a couple of weeks to really take in the beautiful mural and really see how it is a direct reflection of one my top values.

‘Always Lead with Kindness’

With every new class I set this intention. Be kind to each other, always be kind to yourself (negative self talk will always be reframed into a strengths based lense), and I will always be kind to the students in my care.

This is also the core value I use to connect with in my leadership role and instil in my own children.

Some days can be really tough, but this does not mean you should be tough on yourself.

A little reminder to be kind to kind to yourself and lead with loving kindness.

The simplest tool you can use to regulate yourself. But so often, when we feel stressed, we hold our breath or revert to shallow breathing. 😮‍💨Start practicing this breath during your day so it’s becomes a natural self regulation tool. 😮‍💨Practice it when are aren’t in stress response, in the car, walking into work, leaving work, in between tasks at home.
😮‍💨Let your breath guide you back to calm throughout your day.

Believe. 💫

At the 2025 AFL Grand Final, the Brisbane Lions ran out through one powerful word: Believe. 🦁
It’s more than a sporting slogan — it’s a mindset. Belief fuels resilience, effort, and growth in sport, in school, and in life.

I’m fascinated by sporting clubs and how they can be really
powerful communities that create unity and faith, whether you are a top afl player or a supporter, the growth mindset embodied in a positive way have a powerful impact on the whole community. I wonder what this would look like if applied to a whole school community.

On the field, belief means trusting the process, bouncing back after setbacks, and playing with resilience.

In education, belief means mistakes are opportunities to learn, effort leads to progress, and together we are stronger.

✨ Imagine what this commitment to a growth mindset could look like if applied everywhere:
🌿 Personally: persistence through setbacks
💼 Professionally: embracing challenges as opportunities
🏫 In schools: staff and students learning, failing, and improving together.

Believe. 💫
On the field or in the classroom, belief fuels resilience, effort, and growth.
Imagine if we applied that growth mindset personally, professionally, and across our schools — the impact would be powerful. ✨

What a way to end the term!

So thankful to have been invited to develop and facilitate a full day of professional learning for our colleagues today, along with my talented friend .

Our staff had the opportunity to work with some fantastic external facilitators, so for our participants to chose to spend their time and energy with us off the back of a busy term was truly humbling.

We work with such passionate educators and support staff, and we got to see the very best of people learning about caring for each other, and themselves, and our vulnerable learners, across the course of the day.

Huge thanks to our champion Jade, we would be lost without you! And to Ammie for your faith in us as well. You both empower us so much, and I know neither of us take it for granted.

And how beautiful is the thank you hamper full of Rupertswood produce and gifts made by our VPC class (props Marieclaire ❤️) and VM students.

My cup is full, and I feel privileged to be given these opportunities, and be a part of the wonderful Salesian Community

Pay attention parents, we have to take action to build the resilience of our children now, for their future selves to thrive!

It’s a question uniting parents around Australia and the world amid a mental health emergency in young people.
