Today, on World Down Syndrome Day, we’re celebrating people with Down syndrome — their individuality, strengths, interests, and the many ways they enrich their families, schools, and communities.
Down syndrome is a genetic condition that occurs when a person has an extra copy of chromosome 21. People with Down syndrome, like everyone else, have their own dreams, talents, preferences, and ways of communicating and connecting with the world.
World Down Syndrome Day is an opportunity to celebrate inclusion, reflect on what helps people thrive, and recognise the importance of environments where everyone is welcomed, supported, and able to participate in ways that work for them.
Today - and every day - we celebrate difference, listen to lived experiences, and support a world where everyone is valued for who they are.
