⭐️ Ask an AAC Experience Adviser

🤔Today, your question is answered by Joey (Thanks, Joey!):
"What's the best way to ask for clarification when connecting with an AAC communicator?"

We love this advice from Joey:
"Just be patient, kind, and willing to stick with me until the message gets across. That's how real conversations happen, even when we use different tools to speak."

One of our favourite things about these trainings? The cool toys and resources SPs bring along! We're all guilty of wanting to show off our latest finds, right?

🛒Shopping Memory Game standout:🛒
This has been a game-changer with teens and adults. The images are age-appropriate, and let's be honest - we all love talking about food!

It's not just about the devices - sometimes the best AAC implementation ideas come from creative, motivating resources that get people communicating.

Love seeing what tools and strategies work for different clients and contexts 💚

🌍⚖️ HUMAN RIGHTS DAY ⚖️🌍

Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights states that everyone has the right to freedom of expression.
Communication isn't just a service or support, it's the basic human right of connection.

It’s a person’s right to have their ideas, thoughts and feelings recognised, validated and valued - even if it doesn't involve speech or devices or traditional methods.

For people who cannot rely on speech alone, this fundamental human right requires:

🗣️ Recognition of diverse communication methods
🗣️ Removal of barriers to full participation in society
🗣️ Access to communication tools and technology
🗣️ Training and support to develop communication skills

When we advocate for AAC access, we're advocating for human dignity, equality, and the fundamental right to be heard.

Every person deserves to communicate.

This is what human rights look like in action! ✊

⭐️ Ask an AAC Experience Adviser

🤔Today, your question is answered by Joey (Thanks, Joey!):
"How have you personalised your AAC device?"

We love this from Joey:
"I don't just use my AAC device, I've shaped it to match the way I think, speak and move through the world. AAC isn't just something I use, it's something I build, and I want people to see that AAC users are the experts in their own voices."

♿🌟 INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITY 🌟♿

Today we celebrate the achievements, contributions, and incredible diversity of people with disability – including the millions worldwide who cannot rely on speech alone to communicate.

This year's theme reminds us that when we remove barriers to communication, we unlock potential, creativity, and contributions that make our communities stronger.

People who use AAC are:

🏆 Leaders, artists, students, and advocates
🏆 Parents, partners, and community members
🏆 Innovators who show us new ways to connect
🏆 Voices that deserve to be heard and valued

Communication access isn't just about individual needs – it's about building a world where everyone can participate fully.

Today and every day, let's commit to breaking down communication barriers! 💙

to our Sept AAC Assessment and Implementation workshop in Sydney! 📱💚

Two full days diving deep into practical AAC strategies - from core and fringe vocabulary to feature matching and goal setting.
