: In a shocking development, the male owner of beloved dog Arnie has been charged after the German Shepherd was found dead in the back of an alleged stolen ute.
A 43-year-old man has assisted police with investigations, and it has now been established that the vehicle was, in fact, not stolen.
It will be alleged the man drove the vehicle into Amelia Street in Fortitude Valley before abandoning it, with Arnie left inside the ute just after 10:30pm on November 7.
Police allege the following morning he told his partner that the vehicle had been stolen from a Wynnum address before she reported the matter.
Investigators will allege that the woman did not know the vehicle was not stolen.
The 43-year-old male owner has been charged with one count of breach of duty of care of animal by failing to provide under the Animal Protection Act.
Investigations remain ongoing.
