Vaccination offers your best protection against serious illness from COVID-19. If you’re due for your next dose, you can get vaccinated 3 months after your last dose or COVID-19 infection.

If you are severely immunocompromised you may need additional doses. Please speak to your GP about what is right for you.

Vaccination is recommended for children aged 6 months to four years who are severely immunocompromised, have a disability or complex and/or multiple health conditions.

Here are some helpful steps to follow if you have COVID-19, to asses your Anti-viral eligibility.

If you test positive to COVID-19 follow the steps below to see if antiviral medicines are an option for you.

1. When you test positive to COVID-19 or register a positive RAT, you’ll receive a survey link from NSW Health via SMS.

2. If you’re identified as higher risk after completing the survey, you will receive an SMS from Healthdirect Australia about how to access antiviral medicines via your GP.

3. Contact your GP immediately to discuss using antivirals. Antiviral medicines work best within 5 days of symptoms appearing.

4. If you’re eligible, your GP will prescribe you antiviral medicines (online or paper copy).

Although registering a RAT test is no longer mandatory, voluntarily registering your result will help you access antiviral medicines if you are eligible.

If you are not able to get in touch with your GP, contact the NSW Health COVID-19 and Flu Care at Home Support Line on 1800 960 933 or the National Coronavirus Helpline on 1800 020 080 who are able to check if you are eligible for antivirals.
