This month, we’re proud to support Movember, raising awareness for men’s health, from prostate and testicular cancer to mental health and su***de prevention. 💙

At Leschenualt Medical Centre, we know that taking care of your health isn’t just about check-ups, it’s about speaking up, checking in, and supporting the men in our lives.

Did you know menopause doesn’t happen overnight?

It’s a gradual process that typically begins with perimenopause, when hormone levels start to fluctuate. This stage can bring symptoms such as:

👉 Hot flushes & night sweats
👉 Irregular periods
👉 Mood changes
👉 Trouble sleeping
👉 Vaginal dryness

Menopause is officially reached when a woman has had no periods for 12 months. After this, the postmenopause stage begins, where symptoms may ease but long-term health risks (like bone thinning and heart health changes) become important to manage.

💡 Every woman’s experience is different, but support is available. Our team can provide advice, treatment options, and lifestyle guidance to help you navigate this stage of life with confidence.

🔎 What happens at a skin check?

Many people put off booking because they’re unsure what to expect. Here’s a quick breakdown:

- A skin doctor will examine your skin from head to toe.
- Any concerning spots are checked with a dermatoscope (a special magnifying tool).
- If needed, the doctor may recommend monitoring, a biopsy, or removal.

✅ It’s quick, non-invasive, and can make a huge difference for your health.

Every day, 58 Australians are diagnosed with breast cancer, including both women and men. While survival rates have improved to 92% over the past 30 years, too many lives are still being lost.

We want to shine a light on the importance of early detection and regular screening:
✔️ Book your breast screen if you’re due
✔️ Know the signs and symptoms to look out for
✔️ Speak with your GP if you notice any changes

By taking action and raising awareness, we can all play a part in working towards a future with zero deaths from breast cancer.

📅 If you’re due for a check or have any concerns, book an appointment with your GP today.
