Nia Dance Fitness for Women

Nia Dance Fitness for Women https://www.niaaustralia.com.au/teacher/mandy-loveday/ My name is Mandy Loveday and I've been practicing Nia for 16 years and teaching for 10.

I found the JOY OF MOVEMENT in this practice and I love to share it with women in my community who are looking for feel good fitness, movement for balance, mobilty and strength and /or to alleviate symptoms of menopause, anxiety and trauma. Nia is a somatic movement practice that leaves you feeling uplifted and alive. What to expect: The teacher guides you through the moves with no strict focus on technique other than to let your body feel the music and move in a way that feels right for you. Nia dance classes completely allow you to move at your own pace. No-one is pushing you to work harder, improve performance or force that stretch further. The movements are simple and repetitive on purpose, designed to condition the body and bring up feelings of inner connection and joy. About Mandy - I have completed the Nia White, Green and Blue Belts, 52 Moves and Moving to Heal Nia teacher trainings and I'm also a certified Trauma Informed Movement Practitioner. My classes focus on choice and SAFETY, fitness for OVER 55s, Seniors and Movement for MENOPAUSE.

What to expect in a Nia Class

“Nia is a technique that starts with fitness and ends with a comprehensive healing of the mind, body, spirit and emotions.”

Nia is a transformational movement practice anchored in body-centred awareness. It blends the latest mind body science with ancient wisdom and draws on the chemistry of nine movement forms: Tai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, Aikido, Jazz, Modern Dance, Duncan Dance, Yoga, the Alexander Technique and the work of Moshe Feldenkrais®. What to expect in a Nia class: The teacher guides you through the moves with no strict focus on technique other than to let your body feel the music and move in a way that feels right for you. Nia classes completely allow you to move at your own pace and in your own body’s way. No-one is pushing you to work harder, improve performance or force that stretch further. The movements are simple and repetitive on purpose, designed to relax and condition the body and bring up feelings of inner-connection and joy. Mandy Loveday has been practicing Nia for 11 years and has completed the White, Green and Blue Belts, "Moving to Heal" and “52 Moves” teacher trainings. She’s a certified Trauma Sensitive Movement Practitioner and is passionate about sharing the joy of movement for self-healing and fitness. All classes are trauma sensitive and self-care is of the utmost importance.

“Self-care usually does not consist of a single, dramatic act, but instead is generally composed of a long series of small acts of self-kindness, guided by pleasure.” The Nia Technique by Debbie Rosas & Carlos Aya-Rosas
