Our Story

Joyner Health Centre commenced in 2012 and its key person for the organisation is Maureen Hamilton. Here is her story.

Maureen’s journey started at the age of 7 when she was hospitalized with blood poisoning and quiet ill. At that time the only way penicillin was administered was intra-muscularly and rather painfully with each one, every four hours, day and night. The nurses were so kind and tried to hard to be gentle and caring, that Maureen followed them as a role model.

This inspired Maureen to go on to train as a nurse in General, Midwifery and Psychiatric Nursing. After many years and much experience, both overseas as well as Australia, Maureen ventured into another area which was Hypnotherapy, NLP, Time Line Therapy, Demartini Method just to mention a few.

Initially Maureen’s goal was to help as many people as possible to quit smoking since her husband had died at age 47 from smoking. However after several years Maureen realised the huge need for the weight loss program. With much research and development, Maureen has established a very successful weight loss program seeing wonderful results from very satisfied clients.

Then in 2014 Maureen flew to Adelaide for training in The Richards Trauma Process. This was such a gratifying experience, meeting not only other therapists from different areas including a doctor, anesthetist, paramedic, psychologists who were also participating in the training. Most of all meeting Judith Richards, the lady who was not only presenting but had also developed the program. Through this initial training and especially the ongoing training and support, Maureen has assisted many people with trauma, anxiety, depression, phobias, panic attacks, addictions and so much more, utilizing her exceptional skills as a Hypnotherapist, life’s experience and most of all utilizing The Richards Trauma Process (TRTP). This is an exceptional process allowing people with PTSD, anxiety, depression and other emotional issues achieve a calm and peaceful life.
