🏓Table Tennis 🏓

Don't judge us, its not our finest camera work, but still worth sharing. We're blaming the lighting 😜

Last week our wonderful participants and amazing support workers headed to the Ballarat Table Tennis Association for a session full of quick rallies, big smiles and plenty of friendly rivalry.

Banter was high, the rallies were fierce and the encouragement between everyone made the whole experience feel electric. What made it even better was watching participants build real skills while having fun, hand‑eye coordination, focus, confidence, teamwork and even a bit of strategic thinking with every serve and return.

Another great day out, full of laughs, growth and community connection. ❤️

Today, we pause.

At Calacare, ANZAC Day isn’t just a date on the calendar — it’s personal. We are proud to have team members who have served our country and we see every day the strength, resilience and quiet leadership they bring into the lives of the people we support.

We remember those who gave everything, and we honour those who continue to carry that legacy with them.

To our veterans within Calacare — thank you for your service, your sacrifice and for choosing to continue caring for others in a different way.

Lest we forget. 🌺

🎳Bowling🎳

Our participants and support workers hit the lanes this week for a fun morning of bowling and the friendly competition did not disappoint. There was plenty of laughter, a bit of cheeky banter and more than a few celebrations when someone landed that perfect shot.

These simple moments, mateship, confidence building and shared joy are what community access and connection is all about.

Another great day out with a great group of people.

On our latest Mates Day, a participant heard about the plants purchased for her friend through bottle and can collections at his home.

Inspired, she went home and spent eight hours designing and 3D‑printing a cowboy boot planter, finishing it with gloss paint and a vibrant succulent.

It now sits with the other lovely plants that brings a smile to his face every day😊

Seeing participants show this level of care for one another is something truly special ❤️

🏰Kryal Castle 🏰

Our amazing participants and support workers ventured out to Kryal Castle for a truly memorable medieval experience.

They explored the enchanting grounds filled with knights, dragons and spellbinding shows. The group enjoyed live jousting tournaments, watched knights in combat and even braved the Torture Dungeon & Museum.

It was a fantastic day out, full of connection, community engagement and meaningful capacity building.

We absolutely love what we do and supporting our participants to enjoy experiences like this is what makes it all worthwhile. ❤️

🧑‍🤝‍🧑MATES DAY🧑‍🤝‍🧑

Another successful "Mates Day" at the Golf House Hotel in Ballarat.

It is amazing to see the development of this day with more participants joining the crew for what is an afternoon full of laughter, banter and connection! We're now recognised as locals at one of our favourite pubs in town!

This is not only an opportunity for participants to get out of their homes and into the community but the chance to build on skills and capacity through social and community connection, autonomy and self advocacy, relationship building and inclusion.

Mates Day is fast becoming the highlight of everyone's week and we couldn't be happier in supporting our participants to attend and engage in days like these! 🫶

A smile that says a thousand words! 😁

Seriously, is that not a face of pure happiness?

As part of our weekly "Mates Day" one of our wonderful participants ventured to the pub with fellow participants and support workers to enjoy an afternoon full of laughter and connection.

But there was a motive.... he couldn't remember the last time he enjoyed a Guinness! 🍺 Having a disability should never be a barrier to enjoying life's little pleasures and it certainly was not this time!

At Calacare we're proud to walk alongside our participants as they rediscover the things that make them feel like themselves, even if it's a cold Guinness over connection with mates! 🫶

Our amazing support workers have been collecting their cans and bottles at the home of one of our wonderful participants.

With money collected they have purchased plants to keep outside the participants window so that when the blinds are open its not just a boring fence to look at! Our participant loves being able to view some colour from their window and now plans on adding some colour with some bright flowers to complement the existing plants.

Just goes to show that a small effort from everyone in a team can make a big impact on someone’s life. We are so grateful to have support workers that go the extra mile for our participants!

👾TIMEZONE 👾

Last week our wonderful participants along with our amazing support workers had the chance to tap into their inner child and immerse themselves in all the fun and games at Timezone Ballarat.

From arcade challenges and pinball battles to shooting hoops and collecting tickets, they had an absolute ball. Friendly competition was high, the banter was flowing and the laughs were nonstop! Exactly what community connection should feel like.

Beyond the fun, the afternoon was a great opportunity for everyone to engage with the community, build confidence and put a range of physical, fine motor and personal development skills into action.

Moments like these remind us how powerful simple, joyful experiences can be in supporting growth, independence and well-being.
