✨ The Heart of Bambi ✨
Hi I’m Dani — Owner and Creator of Bambi Casting Co.
What started as a way to express my creative side while navigating my first year of motherhood quickly turned into a career I adore.
I never did get my Bambi girl cast as a newborn — she was a perfect little 5lb 6oz parcel. Being deeply sentimental, it pains me not to have a physical reminder of how tiny she was.
But I still find the beauty in my work — I get to cast her anytime I want, and we’ve started a yearly birthday tradition to capture her growth in stone.
My favourite part of the job is uncovering each casting. It’s genuinely magic — no two casts are ever the same. I still get excited every time I peel the alginate away to reveal the wrinkles, lines, chubby wrists and tiny nails.
What makes my castings different is the level of care that goes into every step.
I use gentle, baby-safe materials, take my time with drying and refining, and frame each piece in high-quality frames and timber shadow boxes.
Behind every casting are hours of measuring, mixing, moulding, drying, detailing, sanding, priming, painting and framing. It’s slow and delicate — you can’t rush art, it’s worth every second.
A fun fact about me: I used to be a qualified barber! My favourite thing to do was hot-towel shave.
My favourite colours are forest green and lilac (almost the only colours I put Bambi in), and you’ll see forest green throughout my work.
Our little family includes: Rhys, my partner, Bambi, our 2.5 year old (Amber), and myself.
My goals for next year are to:
• attend market stalls in Ballarat & Victoria
• launch a beautiful website with an online booking system
• collaborate with local small businesses
• introduce new keepsake and gifting concepts for mothers
Thank you to everyone who has trusted me with their memories and invited me into their homes and hearts.
Love, Dani from Bambi Casting Co.
