Mountains are one of my love languages, visiting them, talking with them, sharing their beauty and gravity with others.

Well, I just discovered a thing called international mountain day and will be joining some of the walks below to celebrate and uphold the impressive wisdom and generosity of mountains.

As part of international mountain day the Great Dividing Trail Association are running a week of mountain walks in the central highlands region. Register or get more info here:

The sound of spring!

I know I’ve been rather busy lately and have had to cancel a few walks, this week’s included.

But here at work the golden whitlers are calling and I can hear in their tune that spring is starting to bud in the soil. Can you?

Next month am hosting a very special forest bathing experience in honour of wattle flowers and spring.

Keep an eye out here for updates!

The Golden Whistler belongs to the Family Pachycephalidae, which means 'thick-head' after the group's robust necks and heads. This species is one of Australia's loudest and most beautiful songsters.

Photos from last week’s walk. Forest bathing is canceled this coming Friday 8th August due to sickness.

Good morning!
Forest bathing this morning at the Peady St Reserve, 9.15 for 9.30 start.
See you there!

I have been listening to 'By Desert Ways to Baghdad' on my drives to work in the morning. Did you know that English doctors once proscribed fresh air and sleeping in a tent (even in the rain)?

Well, if you'd like a bit of moist fresh air, join me this Friday for our weekly forest bathing with a focus on Dadirri. The forecast for this Friday is looking pretty dicey, but so long as its not VERY wet, I'll still be taking a walk for anyone wishing to brave the weather.

Friday 25th July, meet at the Gladstone St entrance to the Peady St reserve from 9.15am onwards for a 9.30am start. Wear weather appropriate clothing and bring a sit mat or portable stool, a water bottle if needed, and a small something to share for morning tea.

This walk is by donation.

Forest bathing at the Peady St Reserve is on again tomorrow, weather permitting.

Meet at 9.15am for a 9.30am start at the Gladstone St entrance to the reserve. We aim to finish around 11am.

Rug up and bring a sit mat or small stool if you want to sit for the slower invitations.

This walk is by donation and 50% of donations go to the Miriam Rose Foundation.

I hope that you will join me.

My apologies for the late notice. No forest bathing tomorrow due to school holidays.

I'm back!

After two weeks away I will be walking again at the Peady St Reserve this Friday 4th July. Meet at the Gladstone St entrance, near the corner with Tress St from 9.15am for a 9.30am start.

The walk is non-strenuous, so please rug up especially because temperatures have been low!

Bring a sit mat if you need one, a drink bottle, something to share for morning tea (fruit, chocolate, etc).

I will be guiding you through some invitations to slow down and experience the healing power of this beautiful patch of land.

Winter blessings!

This mornings walk was our last for a couple of weeks, while I take a break to focus on other work. The next walk is on the 27th of June. I'll post an update closer to the time.

Meanwhile... here is an invitation: the wind is blowing a bluster today. Where are the points of stillness within all this movement? Can you find them, within or without?

29/05/2025

Tomorrow's Friday morning forest bathing walk is cancelled due to sickness. Hope you all enjoy a good dose of sunshine some time spent amongst trees.

Kindest regards, Shalome
