This is my first post since I moved and it's a good one. Dooky Campbell, my drake, was taken by a fox on Christmas Day. It was really sad. About a week later, my grey duck disappeared, and I thought she was gone too. A week after that, she reappeared, going straight to the duck pond for a wash, and then the chook run for some food, then back under the house, where she had made her nest. I had no idea if the eggs could be fertile, because Dooky Campbell hadn't been around for a couple of weeks. Duck eggs take about 4 weeks to hatch, and the 4 week mark came and went, but she didn't give up. 4 days ago she stopped coming out, and I thought something had killed her. But then, yesterday, she presented me with these gorgeous tiny ducklings. One is named after my brother, because they appeared on his birthday, and another is called Lucky, because I found it soaking wet through, shivering, stuck in a water bowl, and warmed it and dried it and cuddled it for an hour, then gave it back to mum. Any othrt name suggestions, gratefully received. 🥰

Update: so, their names are Hunter, Lucky, Connie, Campbell, Jemima, and Myrtle. 🥰

I'd like to wish you all a peaceful festive season, and a prosperous New Year. I hope you find time to feel the miricle that is being alive,in whatever way works for you.

Freya's Farm has now moved from Scarsdale to Barwidgee, near Myrtleford, in North Eastern Victoria. The dogs, cats, horses, chooks and ducks all came with me, and everyone is getting used to their new home, including me! I'll be back to work on the 4th Jan. Until then, take care, F x

Hello lovely people, today I am sharing a wonderful advent calendar created by Ruth Newport. I have known Ruth for over 5 years. She is part of the neurodivergent tribe, lives with M.E. and Long Covid. Despite her physical limitations, she is one of the most positive, kind, persistent souls I know, who faces daily adversity with grace. This is one of the ways she hopes to contribute to her family financially, while also bringing other families together with Advent activities.

You can order the activities so they fit in with your usual Christmas preparations (things like, decorate the tree, make Christmas cookies, write cards, etc) as well as having other great ideas and some blank options if there is a tradition special to your family. It's delivered as a PDF, so you get it as soon you order it. It is a really lovely alternative to pictures, chocolate, or these crazy expensive candle/make up/alcohol/jewellery alternatives. And she is only charging $5 for all her hard work and creativity.

Please check it out and share it with your networks. I'd love to this to be a success for Ruth.

Softy Puss 2012-2025
It is with a very heavy heart that I need to let you all know that our beautiful, big, therapy cat Soft, passed away on Wednesday.
Many clients adored this gentle giant. He was born here, and only knew love. He wasn't scared of anyone, including the various puppies, kittens, chickens, horses, ducks or people that came here. His favourite thing was to put a paw on each should of the person holding him, and hug you, whilst gazing deeply into your soul. He loved eye contact. I can't count the number of people he has helped and loved, myself included. He was never forced to be session, rather, he would scratch on the door to be let in as soon as he heard voices.
The farm feels odd without him, but we will hold him in our hearts.
Thank you for all the love Softy Puss. ### .

Hi Everyone. Last year I did not anticipate making this post, but the universe has decided I need to be in Scarsdale for a bit longer. My property is still for sale, but with a quiet market, I am accepting new clients. I can guarantee I'll be here at least 4 more months, quite possibly more. So, please think of my service if you know anyone who needs some support. Thanks, F x

This is a very interesting video, especially for patents of ADHD children.

Hi Everyone. As part of my down sizing, my horses are looking for new homes. I have 4 left, 3 that I'm seeking EOI's for. All have been part of my EAP practice for the last 2 years, and informally for longer.

Strider, 16'3 bay TB gelding, 9yrs old. Loves children, and although he is a TB, and can have the occasional spook moment, he has no bite/kick at all. He would also be good for led ridden. Easy to catch/float/rug/farrier etc.

Fuego 14'2 (approx) chestnut appaloosa/SH gelding cross, 5 yrs old. Fuego is great as a herd meet. Also very curious and kind. Not under saddle, so could be a nice project for someone. Easy to catch/float/farrier etc.

Varsha 16'2 QH/Clydesdale/Appaloosa x (we think), mare, 18yrs old. Gentle giant. She seeks out human contact, absolutely LOVES scratches and grooming. Again, easy to catch/float/rug. We have only ridden her 4 times in the 2 years we've had her, and she's not the biggest fan of the girth (needs tightening slowly,) but she is patient and kind for riders.

All of these horses are excellent companion therapists. Located near Ballarat, VIC.
