Your body’s not broken. It’s talking.

Most of us spend our days thinking outside of our bodies, caught up in work, stress, or focusing only on pain. But in Clinical Pilates, we shift that focus back inwards.

It’s not about chasing perfection. It’s about building awareness and learning how your body moves best. Because when you start to connect and move with intention, that’s when real change happens.

Calluses aren’t just “hard skin” - they’re a sign your feet are taking extra pressure in certain areas.

👣 Big toe joint → often from your foot rolling in too much
👣 Ball of the foot → linked to tight calves or limited ankle movement
👣 Heel → usually from heavy loading or unsupportive shoes

Think of them as a map, showing where your body is under stress every time you walk.

Dealing with sore, tight shoulders? Dry needling may help.

💡 What it is: A very fine, sterile needle is inserted into the muscle where there are knots or “trigger points.”
💡 What it does: The needle helps release that knot, improves blood flow, and allows the muscle to relax.
💡 How it helps: This can reduce pain, improve movement, and ease that heavy, aching feeling in your shoulders.

It’s a safe, effective way to target stubborn muscle tension that doesn’t shift with stretching or massage alone.

👉 Book your dry needling session today via the link in our bio and give your shoulders the relief they’ve been waiting for.

You’ve probably seen it printed on the back of food packets in Australia:
“Average adult daily energy intake is 2000 calories.”

But here’s the truth - your body isn’t average.

Your energy needs depend on your age, height, weight, s*x, and activity level. For some people, 2000 calories is too much. For others, it’s nowhere near enough.

✅ Step 1: Find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)
• Women: 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) – 5 × age – 161
• Men: 10 × weight (kg) + 6.25 × height (cm) – 5 × age + 5

✅ Step 2: Multiply by your activity level (to get your TDEE)
• Sedentary × 1.2
• Light × 1.375
• Moderate × 1.55
• Active × 1.725
• Very active × 1.9

That number = your real daily energy needs.

Food labels are a guide, not a rule. If you want a plan that goes deeper than numbers, a dietitian can help you personalise it to your goals and lifestyle.

“Plantar fasciitis affects up to 1 in 10 people, and in many cases, pain becomes chronic when early treatment is delayed.”

As podiatrists, we now have access to one of the most effective evidence-based treatments: Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT).

👉 In a controlled clinical trial, patients receiving shockwave therapy for chronic plantar fasciitis reported significant improvements in pain, function, and quality of life within 12 weeks.

The challenge? There are only a limited number of shockwave machines available in Australia, and very few clinics in regional areas offer it.

At Modern Medicine, we’ve invested in this technology so our community doesn’t need to travel hundreds of km's for advanced treatment. Many of our patients start noticing improvement after just 3–5 sessions.

If heel pain has been stopping you from walking comfortably, training, or even standing at work - evidence shows this could be the treatment that gets you moving again.

A stiff spine often develops when joints or surrounding muscles lose mobility. This can lead to pain, restricted movement, and compensation in other parts of the body.

Myotherapists are trained to assess the spine, identify which areas are restricted, and apply targeted treatment. This may include:
✔️ Soft tissue release to ease tight muscles
✔️ Dry needling to deactivate trigger points
✔️ Joint mobilisation to improve spinal movement
✔️ Exercise prescription to restore strength and flexibility

By addressing both the muscles and joints, myotherapy helps reduce stiffness, improve posture, and support long-term spinal health.

An ingrown toenail might seem small but it’s one of the most common things people put off.

The problem? By waiting, what starts as a bit of redness and tenderness often turns into excruciating pain, infection, and swelling that makes every step unbearable.

The earlier you see a podiatrist, the simpler (and less painful) the treatment. Left too long, it only digs deeper.

👉 Don’t wait until it gets worse. Book with our podiatry team today.

Lower back pain is one of the most common issues our myotherapists see and sometimes cupping is part of the treatment plan.

By creating suction on the skin, cupping helps increase blood flow, release tight muscles, and calm the nervous system. For some people, this can reduce stiffness and ease that heavy, locked-up feeling in the lower back.

It’s never a one-size-fits-all solution but when used alongside hands-on treatment and targeted exercises, cupping can be a valuable tool in recovery.
