Support Coordinator Spotlight 🌟
From support work to Support Coordination, we're proud to welcome Gage to Auscare Support as he takes this next step.
Gage started working in the NDIS sector in 2020 as a support worker, quickly finding his niche. He explored multiple service providers, supporting participants with all different types of disabilities and impairments across programs like supported living, respite, community access, and day programs.
As much as he loved support work and the connections he built with participants and their families, he felt like he had more to offer. So when we asked him what drew him to Support Coordination, he put it simply: "I love seeing a participant start their NDIS journey and working alongside them and their loved ones to achieve their goals and build independence."
Gage is supporting participants across the Riverina region NSW, and we couldn't be prouder to have him on the team.
The sun’s sleeping in, the mornings are crisp, and there’s that proper coolness in the air that makes you walk a little faster and breathe a little deeper.
The veggie patch is showing off. Pumpkins are fattening up nicely, grapes are hanging heavy, and the tomatoes, eggplant and cucumbers are still going gangbusters, and we’re doing our best to keep up.
The kitchen’s been a hive of activity too. Elderberry syrup bubbling away, blackberry vinegar brewing up beautifully.
We were lucky enough to have a bit of light rain, enough to green up the paddocks and lift everyone’s spirits.
Sadly, it didn’t do much for the dams. One’s still bone dry and the other’s dropping quicker than we’d like. We’re keeping our eyes on the sky and hoping autumns got a few more showers tucked away.
The feathered mob are thriving; we’ve got a few shows coming up in the next couple of months to keep things interesting.
The four-legged crew have done well on oaten hay through the dry stretch and are now happily nibbling at fresh green pick like it’s the best thing they’ve ever tasted.
That’s life on the patch.

The world can feel a little shaky at times. When things feel uncertain, kindness, respect and understanding matter more than ever. Harmony starts with the simple things, listening, supporting one another, and making space for everyone to belong.

Sharing some highlights from our time at the recent Parramatta Disability Expo hosted by DEC.
With over 800 people coming through the doors, it was a fantastic opportunity to connect with participants, families, and other providers in the community. It was great spending the day having meaningful conversations about the support people are looking for.
Events like this are always a great reminder of how strong and collaborative the community is. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat with us.
And one unexpected highlight from the booth. The apples were definitely a hit 🍎
We are already looking forward to the next one!

Support Coordinator Spotlight 🌟
The Auscare Support team keeps growing, and we couldn't be happier about it.
Today, we get to introduce you to Avi.
Avi comes to us with two years of NDIS Support Coordination experience, but before that, she spent five years as a teacher. And honestly, you can tell. There's a patience to the way she works, a calmness, and this ability to take something that feels overwhelming and make it feel manageable. That's not a skill everyone has.
She's joining us as a Support Coordinator, supporting participants across South-East Melbourne. Avi's focus is on helping people actually understand their plan, connect with the right supports, and feel like someone's genuinely in their corner.
The NDIS space is changing fast, and so are the questions Support Coordinators are asking themselves.
At Auscare Support, we've spent a lot of time thinking about what sustainability actually looks like for this workforce. So we built three models around it:

What is Support Coordination?
‘Assistance to strengthen participant’s abilities to coordinate and implement supports and participate more fully in the community.
It can include initial assistance with linking participants with the right providers to meet their needs, assistance to source providers, coordinating a range of supports both funded and mainstream and building on informal supports, resolving points of crisis, parenting training and developing participant resilience in their own network and community.
What is plan management?
A plan manager assists participants to manage their plan by paying for and monitoring the funded supports on their behalf. A participant can decide to use a registered plan management provider to manage some or all of the funding of supports in their plan.
The activities of a Plan manager may include:
- Paying service providers and processing expense claims for participants
- Developing monthly statements for participants
