What looks like a simple weekend outing is actually something much bigger.

Supports like these give people the chance to participate, make choices, meet others and experience their community in meaningful ways.

Inclusion doesn’t happen by accident it happens when people are supported to live life on their terms. And that’s exactly what we’re here for. 💙

A heartfelt thank you to the Country Women's Association (CWA) of NSW Ballina, who welcomed us with a beautiful morning tea and a generous donation for Biala School.

The CWA work tirelessly all year to give back to the community, and their support means so much to our students, families and staff.

Acts of kindness like this help our school continue to grow, create and deliver meaningful experiences for our young people. 💙

Meet Seth and his newest creation Scott the Scarecrow, proudly “dressed to impress” at the Ballina Community Gardens 🌻🛠️

As part of his vocational skill development, Seth has been working with the team at the Ballina Community Men’s Shed to design and build Scott from scratch learning to use hand and power tools, problem-solve, follow safety procedures, and work alongside others in a real workplace setting.

This project gave Seth so much more than practical skills. It built confidence, independence, and that incredible feeling of “I made this.”

We couldn’t be prouder and neither could Scott 😊💙

Inclusion begins with something simple the belief that every person deserves to belong, participate and be truly seen.

As we mark 2025, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what disability-inclusive communities really look like in everyday life. It’s not just policy or theory. It’s the small, powerful moments where people with disability are leading their own choices, where barriers are removed instead of worked around, and where communities choose curiosity, respect and connection over assumptions.

At Biala, this is our work every single day.

In Biala School, it means creating learning environments where students feel safe, supported and understood, and where success is defined by each young person’s strengths.

In our support services, it looks like walking alongside participants as they build independence, friendships, confidence and real community connection.

Across the Northern Rivers, it means partnering with families, local employers, councils and community groups to make sure every person can participate fully in the life of our region.

Inclusion isn’t something we celebrate once a year it’s a shared responsibility and a long-term commitment. And when we get it right, the impact is felt far beyond our services. It strengthens families, workplaces and entire communities.

Together, we can build communities where every person is valued.
Together, we can create the progress we want to see.

Biala School came alive with colour, imagination and plenty of giggles as we celebrated our annual Spooky Day 👻✨

But more than a fun dress-up, days like this play an important role in our students’ experience at school. These moments create fond memories, spark creativity, and give every student the chance to express themselves in ways that feel joyful and true to who they are.

They also help build inclusion, connection and confidence reminding us how powerful it can be when our school community comes together to celebrate, learn and play 💙
