Complementary Compounding Services is a compounding pharmacy that specialise in the production of supplements, natural hormones and medication so it is tailor made to suit your specific individual requirements. Our laboratory is equipped with a comprehensive range of specialised equipment which enables us to produce pharmaceutical quality customised medication – with the emphasis on quality. Our approach to treating illness is through nutritional medicine, otherwise known as orthomolecular medicine, as it treats the underlying physiological imbalance of most diseases rather than just treating the symptoms. Treatments offered therefore include bioidentical hormones for sex hormone imbalances in both women and men, in addition to adrenal, thyroid and other hormone imbalances. We also produce vitamin, mineral, antioxidant and amino acid combinations, to name but a few. Dr Michael Serafin is the chief compounding chemist for Complementary Compounding Services. He holds a Ph.D in pharmacuetical chemistry from Sydney University and has extensive training and experience. He has been involved in compounding pharmacy since the mid 1990′s ranging from training pharmacy students in the art of compounding at Sydney University to working in one of the largest compounding pharmacies in Australia at the time before establishing Complementary Compounding Services in 2001. Currently the legislation allows a pharmacy to dispense and supply an imaged based script before receiving the original copy only if the image based script was supplied directly by the prescriber (not the patient) by email or fax and the prescriber posts the original copy to the pharmacy. If the patient supplies the pharmacy with an image based script by email or fax the pharmacy legally must wait until the original script is received by post or in person before supplying the medication.

We encourage prescribers to email us their patients prescriptions to avoid delays and post us the original scripts. They can contact us for a supply of self addressed pre-paid envelopes for you to post us the original scripts.

We understand this is an inconvenience however we must ensure we are practicing within the legislation.

Alternatively we accept e-scripts which we can dispense immediately without any need for the original script.

Thanks for understanding!

Image based scripts (faxed or emailed scripts) are no longer legally valid since September last year which means we are not allowed to supply until the original script is received. Many doctors and other pharmacies are not aware of this but if caught will wear the consequence. This has created a lot of problems and delays relying on post to deliver the script.

e-Scripts helps overcome these issues as they are legal and no original copy is required by the pharmacy. We accept e-scripts so encourage your doctor to send us an e-script to avoid any inconvenience.

Note: Image based scripts (a photo of the script) is not the same as an e-script.

We are extremely lucky and very grateful to announce that our business is sufficiently elevated and thus was not effected by the floods in Ballina. We intend to reopen on Monday 7th March. At this stage Ballina has no internet or phones but we hope this will be rectified by Monday so we can commence business as usual and clear any back log of orders.

Our hearts and thoughts go out to all those in Lismore, Ballina and the surrounding areas who were not so lucky.

We really appreciate all the messages wishing us well throughout this stressful period. These small deeds mean a great deal to us and are warmly appreciated!

Take care!

Compounding Pharmacy is under utilized during times of crisis and could be a great asset to the public. The US policy makers have realized this and looking to make some changes. Wonder how many years it will take for Australia to catch up?

Policymakers should stay ahead of the curve before the next crisis arises.

Hydroxychloroquine is currently being investigated as a possible treatment for Covid-19. Its mode of action is believed to be a zinc ionophore which means it helps zinc transport inside cells where it can reduce virus replication by inhibiting RNA-dependant replicase enzymes required for the virus to replicate. There are other Zinc ionophores available that do not have all the side effects of these drugs. These include Resveratrol and Quercitin which are two natural bioflavinoids. These have not been tested in Covid-19 but may offer a safer potential alternative however it is doubtful they will be considered by big pharma in their drug trials.
