Bannockburn Bush parkrun

Event #374 at Bannockburn parkrun saw a fantastic turnout, with 118 finishers crossing the line. Among them, 22 participants achieved personal bests, showcasing impressive progress and determination. Congratulations to the following: Amanda, Mikash, Elijah, Ssu-chun, Helene, Rose, Maureen, David, Molly, Peter, Seth, Oliver, Rupert, Spencer, Christopher, Angus, Alyssia, Fiona, Jo, Cadi, Lachlan, Brent.

The event also welcomed several first timers, adding fresh faces to the community. A couple from Belgium thought it was a perfect day to join us for their 1st parkrun, while on holidays.

We had a couple of milestones also; Congratulations to Annie and Matt who celebrated their 100th parkruns and to Mikash who competed his 10th parkrun, as well as achieving a PB. Annie has a PB of 23.34 and has volunteered 12 time. Matt’s PB is 26.17, he was also celebrating his 6th year to the day since joining the parkrun community, he has volunteered 21 times.

Our event is not possible without our amazing volunteers; a massive shout out the following: Tanya, Daniel, Ella, Beck, Aaron (with some help from Walter), Polly, and Caroline. Thanks so much for giving up your run so others were able to run/walk our beautiful bush.

Bannockburn Bush parkrun event #373, 7th March 2026

How good was this morning? The weather was spot on for the 106 walkers/runners/joggers and 12 volunteers that made parkrun happen in the bush today.

With the long weekend we were missing quite a few regulars who visited other parkrun locations, but that didn’t matter with a huge 9 people coming to Bannockburn to participate in their first ever parkrun, many of them locals. Welcome Cam, Barry, Zach, Kyle, Damian, Indi, Rose, Charlotte and Emily. The vibes were good and we think we’ll probably be seeing you at parkrun again soon. A further 13 people visited Bannockburn for the first time, we hope you loved it and visit again.

Conditions were good for speed – 14 participants achieved a new PB. Congrats to Mark, Sam, Dean, Anna, Phil, Tony, Michaela, Lachlan, Jo, Astrid, Rachel, Molly, Peter and Wayne. Congrats also to one of our younger runners Lachlan, who although a regular in the top 5, crossed the finish line in #1 position for the first time today.

It was also great to see so many of our juniors take on volunteer roles today: Addie gave the first timers brief, Elliott helped with course set up, Charlie in his first volunteer role as tail walker, Ellie was the pro timekeeper and Violet alongside her for her first volunteer role handing out tokens. The kids make it look easy, but that’s because it is! If you haven’t volunteered for a while or are nervous about putting your name down, have another think about it, and you can always ask one of our youngsters for advice 😀

Its almost Labour Day weekend, a time to celebrate rights won for a day with 8 hours of work, 8 hours of rest, and 8 hours of walking/running/jogging/volunteering/looking at Strava/buying new running shoes/catching up with mates/going to the cafe.
