Golden Plains Shire Youth Councillors had a fantastic opportunity to attend the March Council Meeting this week.
It was great to see local decision‑making in action and gain a deeper understanding of how Council works to support our community.

A big thank you to the Councillors, as well as Mayor Sharkey and Deputy Mayor Robbins, for taking the time to meet with us for a Q&A. We really appreciated the chance to ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about leadership at Golden Plains Shire Council.

Experiences like this help empower young people to have a voice and be part of shaping the future of our community.

Outfitting a Tiny Gallery

If you are 12-25 come join us for this FREE hands-on workshop setting up a tiny street gallery for the Exhibition of Tiny Art being held in Inverleigh over 15th - 17th May.
We have a locally fabricated Tiny Art Gallery that needs a paint job.
This little gallery needs to be outfitted with benches for tiny people to sit on, it needs tiny art to hang on its tiny walls.
Help us by attending this workshop, creating teeny artworks and the littlest pot-plants to sit in the corner!
All materials supplied

Workshop led by Bec Wilson and members of the Exhibition of Tiny Art Project.
Venue: Bannockburn Cultural Centre
Date: Wednesday 15th April, 2026
Time: 11:30am - 1pm

At Tuesday night’s Youth Council meeting, the Golden Plains Youth Council put their heads together to explore ideas for a new anti-vaping and anti-e-cigarette campaign.

Consultations like this are a core part of what our Youth Council does, making sure young people’s voices are front and centre in decisions that shape their communities. From community projects and events to advocacy and local initiatives, our Youth Council members play an active role in creating positive outcomes for young people across Golden Plains.

It’s inspiring to see our young leaders stepping up, sharing their ideas, and making a real difference in their community. 🌟

We’re dropping a holiday lineup that’s seriously exciting — paintball, a free non-ticketed sausage sizzle in Teesdale, and a mix of chill sessions where you can escape the boredom and just vibe.

It’s completely FREE for all youth 12–25 in the Golden Plains Shire — so bring your mates, pull up with your crew, or rock up solo. There’s always someone to meet and something to get involved in.

Come with your friends, or come on your own — either way, you’re welcome. It’s a chilled space to spend some time, meet new people, chat with the youth team, and just be yourself.
