Barwon Heads Community Arts Garden Barwon Heads Community Arts Garden is a community based Permaculture garden located at Moonah Gates Park, 38 Geelong Road, Barwon Heads.

Vision: The garden will be used as a community gardening and gathering space, a space for the creation and display of art and as a living example and experiment in living green. It will contain a communal veggie patch as well as individual allotments, an orchard, a covered meeting space with cooking and storage facilities, and we hope to fill it with flowers, colour, sculpture, art and people. The BHCAG Mission

• To provide experience and education for sustainable living

The garden will provide a space for learning and skills sharing, environmental awareness and education. Art workshops, water wise techniques and recycling demonstrations will all take place on site.

• Enriching the Urban Environment

A bit about borage which often pops up in the garden...... The edible flowers have a crisp cucumber flavour and are perfect as garnishes in salads, sandwiches, or mashed into cream cheese. They’re even delightful in ice blocks, cocktails (often used instead of mint), or floating atop drinks. Leaves can add a fresh twist to sauces or puréed soups. A word of caution: borage shouldn’t be consumed in large doses or during pregnancy.
