When you have the opportunity to be with someone you love when they are nearing end of life, it's a blessing.
After they have died, being with them is a beautiful opportunity to experience the peace and the silence, it's an honour to spend this time with someone who has died.
It is a gentle sacred space that allows us to start to understand what has just happened. Our hearts and minds need this time to begin to grasp this.
This is a time to be with, care for, and slowly say goodbye without external intervention or having our loved one whisked away from us. It's soothing to have this time.
If your loved one has died at home, they can stay with you for up to 5 days in NSW, with cooling aids such as a cooling plate, or special ice packs, along with the support of friends and family, and an End of Life Doula to guide you if you choose.
Tree of Life Funerals has a cooling plate and ice packs and a number of End of Life Doulas who can help you, including Kerryn Davey of Kookaburra Compassionate Care Services https://ndan.com.au/call-of-the-kookaburra-compassionate-care-services
You can have your person stay at home with you for a day or two, or for the full 5 days while funeral arrangements are made.
We support Natural Burial too, especially Walawaani Way Conservation Burial in Bodalla: https://www.walawaaniway.com/
We're here to guide you and to provide assistance, not just after a person has died, but before, during and afterwards. If a person's death is expected, pre-planning this major life event is a blessing to everyone.
