🌟This week, Bathurst Harness Racing Club are celebrating two hard working men. Graeme McAlister and Chris Jones, who have reached career milestones, clocking up 45 and 10 years employment at the club!
Graeme McAlister, affectionately known as Macca, was a mechanic by trade starting an apprenticeship at Macquarie Motors. Working alongside trainer Ian Mutton, a love for harness racing was born through this friendship. Macca began working at the club over 45 years ago in various roles such as: former board member, track and barrier attendant, timekeeper and judge. Having seen many changes over the years in the harness racing industry and within the club, we are lucky to have a wealth of knowledge regarding racing and club history within Graeme.
Chris Jones' background in the harness racing industry began in 2000 where he was introduced to the sport. Chris went on to obtain a stable hand licence before progressing to become a trainer, driver and owner. In 2012, he became a board member of the Orange Harness Racing Club and was given the opportunity to become a judge and photo finish operator. Chris was asked by the Bathurst club in 2016 to call the trials, which led to his interest and role as the photo finish operator. Chris has also gone on to training other operators in this position.
Congratulations Macca and Chris, thank you for your commitment and dedication to the Bathurst Harness Racing Club! 😀
