National Day for War Animals 2026

Today we remember the animals who served beside our servicemen and women — and those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

From horses and dogs to pigeons, donkeys and camels, war animals have shown extraordinary courage, loyalty and devotion in times of conflict — both in the past and in current service.

PAWS Pet Therapy teams were honoured to once again take part in the remembrance ceremony hosted by Cronulla RSL over the weekend.

Our teams laid a wreath and offered our heartfelt thanks for the service, bravery and unwavering loyalty of war animals — past and present.

As an organisation built on the power of the human–animal bond, this day holds special meaning for us. We pause to acknowledge the animals who stood beside their humans in unimaginable circumstances, and whose contribution will never be forgotten.

Lest we forget.

A great start to 2026!

On Saturday we held our very first PAWS Pet Therapy Training & Assessment Day for 2026 — and what a milestone it was!

Our first training, assessment day in the beautiful new PAWS office.
The first official use of our fantastic new assessment bed.
And a huge congratulations to 7 amazing new teams who passed with flying colours!

It was a great day, both exhausting and rewarding. There were plenty of laughs and inspirational moments, and that wonderful sense of community that makes PAWS so unique.

And just to keep us on our toes… the weather delivered heat, rain and storms! Thank you everyone for keeping your sense of humour!

A massive thank you to our incredible training team:
John, Nadine, David, Gary, Lorraine, Gay and Wendy — we simply couldn’t do this without you.

Here’s to a big year ahead, new beginnings in our new home, and more special dogs (with their well-behaved humans!) making a difference in 2026.

And for our new teams... welcome to the PAWS family. Get ready to experience some "PAWS magic" - the fun has just begun.

Random Acts of Kindness Day 2026

Today is all about the little things that make a big difference — a smile, a kind word… or a gentle paw placed in someone’s hand.

Every day, our incredible PAWS Pet Therapy volunteer teams carry out random acts of kindness without even realising it. They walk into hospital rooms, schools, aged care homes and community spaces, bringing comfort, calm and connection to people who need it most. A wagging tail can ease anxiety. A soft cuddle can brighten someone’s darkest day. And a friendly visit can remind someone they are not alone.

What makes it even more special? These moments are made possible by ordinary people and their extraordinary dogs, giving their time purely to help others.

Random Acts of Kindness Day is the perfect reminder that you and your dog could do this too.
Volunteering with PAWS Pet Therapy is one of the most meaningful ways to give back to your community — and it’s guaranteed to leave both ends of the lead feeling amazing.

If your dog is calm, friendly, and loves people, we’d love to hear from you. Together, you can turn simple visits into life-changing moments.

Because sometimes, the kindest thing you can give… is a paw. 🐾💜
