“What’s that lanyard for?”

Here’s your answer 🌻

When someone wears a Sunflower lanyard, it means they have a non-visible disability. This is something you may not be able to see.

It lets others know they might need a bit more time, patience or help.

You may also see a white Sunflower Supporter lanyard. This can be worn by carers and by people in workplaces who have been trained and are ready to assist. It shows they understand the Sunflower and are there to help if needed.

Seen it before? Now you know. Pass it on.

🇦🇺 Everyone needs to be trained in Cadiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and in the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED).
We all need to familiarise ourselves with the public locations of AEDs.
Sports Facilities, Shopping Centres etc.
Early CPR and contacting "000" is life saving.

A severe heatwave is expected over the next few days, with extreme heatwave conditions forecast to be the worst we’ve seen since the Black Summer bushfires.

It won't hurt to give the gardening a miss, or save that long run for another day – stay out of the sun and make a plan to stay cool.

💨 Use air conditioning and fans.

👒 Slip on a shirt, slop on sunscreen, slap on a hat and slide on those shades.

🌡️ Avoid going out during the hottest part of the day.

🚿 Use a wet towel, put your feet in cool water and take cool showers.

💧 Stay hydrated. If your urine is dark, you definitely need more fluids.

⛔ Skip leg day, that Tan Track run, and trimming those bushes – it can wait.

With this warmer weather we’re finally getting, please take a moment to check in on loved ones , especially the elderly, kids, and anyone who may be vulnerable in the heat.

Make sure pets and animals have plenty of shade, fresh water, and a safe place to escape the heat.

Plan ahead, stay hydrated, limit time outdoors where possible, and aim to be somewhere cool as the day heats up. Looking out for each other can make a real difference.

Stay safe today.

Almost 12 months on, South Australia’s AED legislation is already making a difference!

Since 1 January 2025, many public spaces in SA have been required to have publicly accessible Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and it’s a game changer for community safety.

Where AEDs are now required:

✔ Public buildings: Schools, libraries, sporting centres, theatres, pools, council offices, correctional facilities

✔ Private & commercial: Shopping centres, aged care, retirement villages, large commercial buildings

✔ Residential: Certain apartments & residential parks

✔ Entertainment & gambling: Casinos and gaming venues

✔ Public transport: Trains, trams & buses

New commercial builds (from 1 Jan 2026): Any over 600m² or major renovation

More AEDs in more places = more lives saved.

Every minute counts when someone goes into cardiac arrest , fast access to an AED can be the difference between life and death.

Let’s hope our state follows this lead.

For every minute a patient doesn’t get CPR/defibrillation, their chances of survival fall by 10%
