Wongaburra Aged Care

Wongaburra Aged Care Aged Care Residential, Respite and Home Care Providers

Wongaburra was created as a caring gesture by the people of Beaudesert to enable the elderly to remain and live within their community. The Beaudesert community maintains the friendly and compassionate spirit that rural Australia is famous for and Wongaburra is the embodiment of that true community spirit. Wongaburra was created and developed through the ideas, hard work and generosity of the people of Beaudesert. On the 29th October 1965, the Beaudesert Chamber of Commerce proposed the development and establishment of a home for aged people. The proposal immediately attracted the support of the community and within 5 years, in June 1970, the building was completed and furnished and was officially opened by Dame Annabel Rankin on the 22nd August, 1970. Wongaburra has since evolved into a highly sophisticated centre for aged care, not only for residential care but so much more. Today, thanks to the diverse services offered by Wongaburra, the lifestyle choices are many for the elderly of the community and surrounding areas.

The crafting sessions are always a highlight, offering a wonderful opportunity for creativity and social interaction. Each month brings new themes and projects, sparking excitement and anticipation among the residents. These sessions not only allow them to express their creativity but also foster a sense of community and camaraderie. It's heartwarming to see everyone come together, share ideas, and create something special to celebrate each festive occasion.

World Mental Health Awareness Day 15-10-25💚

We held a staff day which consisted of a tasteful lunch provided by our wonderful kitchen staff. We also did some fun games throughout the day and gave prizes for those who won.

Wearing green is a way to show support for mental health, break the stigma associated with mental illness, and promote conversation about mental health and well-being. Green represents hope, strength, and support, particularly in raising awareness.

It’s been a busy fortnight here at Wongaburra!

On 17/9/25, our residents had a fun and nostalgic time making fairy bread! There were plenty of smiles (and sprinkles) as everyone enjoyed creating their own colourful treats — it brought back many fond childhood memories.

On 19/9/25, we enjoyed a big Happy Hour with Keith Dunn to start the weekend off. The residents absolutely love Keith and always have a wonderful time listening to his music and singing along.

On 22/9/25, we treated our residents to some relaxing foot spas in both the MSU and the FD Lounge Room. Everyone enjoyed listening to music, catching up with friends, and being pampered — it was a lovely, relaxing morning for all.

On 23/9/25, we held Morning Movement sessions in both areas, partnering up with our physio team to enjoy a range of exercises, fun, and games. After all the activity, residents relaxed with morning tea in the sunshine, making it a perfect start to the day.

On 25/9/25, we had the absolute joy of celebrating Ethyl’s 100th birthday! Our talented kitchen staff member Nui made a beautiful birthday cake, and everyone enjoyed a lovely morning tea in the coffee shop area with family and friends to mark this incredible milestone.

On 26/9/25, we started off the day with milkshake deliveries from the Koondi Café, followed by a fun-filled Happy Hour in the Bob Berg Room as we celebrated our September end-of-month birthdays. Everyone had a wonderful time enjoying the music, company, and festivities!

On 02/10/25, our residents enjoyed a cookie decorating activity, showing off their creativity with colourful icing and sprinkles. It was a fun, hands-on morning that filled the room with laughter!

Throughout these past two weeks, our residents have also been getting creative designing their own mosaic tiles, choosing their favourite colours and styles. They always enjoy seeing the beautiful end results of their creations!

We’re looking forward to another wonderful fortnight at Wongaburra, filled with fun, creativity, and memorable moments!

Last week we were lucky enough to take the residents to the Beaudesert Show 🎡

We walked around the grounds and got to pat the animals, watch the horses and some even enjoyed the sideshow attractions. The residents enjoyed spending this time together whilst also participating with their community. This is a annual event that the residents always enjoy and look forward to attending. Wongaburra would like top say a big thank you to our fantastic volunteers for all their help and dedication to make this event possible for our residents 👏👏

As it's R U OK? Day, I just want to remind everyone that it's important we look out for each other. If anyone ever needs support or just a listening ear, please know you're not alone. So take a moment to check in with a colleague, neighbour, family or friend today. A simple "Are you OK? can make a big difference. Lets look out for each other and start a conversation that matters.

Get the Chef Hats out - Pizzas in the oven. 🍕
The residents enjoyed creating their own pizzas with the choice of meats, vegetables, cheese and sauce. Engaging in activities like this, allows them to remember all the meals they used to make and allows everyone to express their creativity and preferences. This resulted in a variety of some unique and delicious pizzas.

Indoor Bowls V Whiddon 🏐
A wonderful time had at the Indoor Bowls competition with Whiddon Beaudesert at Wongaburra. Events like these are fantastic for fostering community spirit and bringing people together through friendly competition. Everyone enjoyed not only the game but also the social aspects, such as catching up over morning tea and listening to music by our resident Mo. Even though Whiddon took the win with a score of 9 to 4, the camaraderie and shared laughter surely made everyone feel like a winner. Here’s to more delightful gatherings and perhaps a comeback victory in the next match!
