This month we are unpacking ๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ ๐ข๐ฃ๐ช๐ญ๐ช๐ต๐บ ๐ต๐ฐ ๐ง๐ช๐ฏ๐ฅ ๐ฉ๐ข๐ฑ๐ฑ๐ช๐ฏ๐ฆ๐ด๐ด ๐ช๐ฏ ๐ฆ๐ท๐ฆ๐ณ๐บ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ฏ๐จ! This includes the good, the in between and the bad times that life has a habit of dishing out.
When the bad times come rolling they are often the hardest and the bring along with them what I call the Cycle of Despair. This is when you are stuck, overwhelmed, lost and hopeless. When you are in the cycle you are also at your most vulnerable and your most exposed.

Now the GOOD, that we love! We relish, enjoy and lap up every second of it. We celebrate the wins, we have an abundance of motivation. Our discipline is great as long as those actions allow the good times to keep flowing. Rarely would we spend time thinking about our habits and methods of enjoying the good times. We just do because everything is working and we are LOVING LIFE! If only that was every day hey? I mean the overall aim is that on the majority life is GOOD. Life has other ideas though and as much as the good times are amazing you will most definitely experience the in between and the bad along with the good. The in between is probably the most common place.

The IN BETWEEN times, they are just mehโฆ we prefer to forget they exit. We sleep it off and go again tomorrow. We ignore them really as best we can and we just keep swinging. Our discipline sometimes fade a little and our motivation can be buried 6 feet under. During the in between times we would often try to do something that makes us happy. Maybe it is shopping, maybe it is sport, maybe it is doing something for ourselves. Either way we generally do something to make the time a tad more tolerable.

The BAD TIMES however, o deary me this is where we not only fall apart, we crumble like a deck of cards in a tornado! This is unsurprisingly the times when we are most vulnerable. Too many bad times left unchecked leave us at risk for burn out and many other unsavoury complications. The bad times I am talking about is the times when you are truly in despair. When everything feels lost, your emotional overload is off the charts and all you want to do is curl up in a corner and cry. During these times your ability to find a moment of happiness is more important than I can outline with words.
The ability to find some happiness will give you HOPE. HOPE is the only ingredient needed for survival. So how do you find hope? Well you need to find happiness. You find happiness in the bad times by being able to break the Cycle of Despair.
Breaking the Cycle of Despair is the ability to recognise you are in the bad times and trapped in the Cycle. It is recognising you have lost hope and currently you are stuck. Once you realise you are overloaded and in a never ending cycle you need to STOP!

Now this does not mean necessarily mean finding something good in the bad. This means finding HOPE.
Once you have HOPE your perspective is now new, it is now wide and it is now productive.
โ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ค ๐๐ ๐จ ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ ๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐ช๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐ก๐:
1. I sit for a moment with my hands pressed hard against my ears so I can hear my own breathing
2. I listen to myself taking 5 breaths
3. I remind myself that I am ok, everything is ok, everything is temporary
4. I think of my โDestination Happyโ
5. I stay here for as long as I need to feel like I have regained control and checked my emotions.
6. Through breaking the cycle I have allowed myself to find hope. I know where I want to go, I have stopped the cycle that was leading me nowhere, and now I can tackle the problem again BUT this time with a clear mind and a balanced perspective
If you want to know the secret to being able to break the cycle, you just read it. When things are bad, find the happiness at all times (ie break the cycle by finding HOPE)
So on this Tuesday December 12, 2023 I want to encourage you to do the 6 steps I just outlined. It does not matter whether things are current GOOD, IN BETWEEN or BAD. Teaching yourself to do this skill during the GOOD and the IN BETWEEN times will serve you extremely well when the bad times come knocking.
