Meet Chris – Our Senior Physiotherapist! 👋 He is at our Beeliar Clinic on Mondays😃

Chris has over 19 years of experience. Graduating from the University of Queensland in 2000. He began his career in private practice before moving to the UK, where he worked across private practice, the NHS, and with the British Military.

These experiences allowed Chris to treat a wide range of patients — from adolescents to elite athletes and even Special Forces personnel. He believes effective communication is key to rehabilitation, working closely with clients to find the root cause of their symptoms and help them reach their goals.

Chris has a special interest in lumbar spine and pelvis, nerve pain, and headaches, using techniques such as manual therapy, dry needling, and exercise prescription. Chris participates in extensive post-graduate study and currently holds the position of Chairman of the Physiotherapy Business Association (WA), to help support and develop physiotherapy in private practice.

Outside of work, Chris enjoys spending time with his wife, two children, and their dog, as well as playing golf and keeping fit at the gym.

Tight muscles you just can't seem to release? Maybe you need a massage ball!

Spikey massage balls are an awesome way to perform self-massage and help relieve pressure from tight muscles. They're particularly good for difficult to reach areas such as your upper back or hamstrings.

You can use your spikey ball against the wall or floor, moving your body slowly forwards and backwards to massage the area. Focus on tight spots for up to a minute, stopping if you feel any pain.

Massage balls are available in clinic and our physios are here to help you with techniques for the best results!

Did you know exercise has been shown to be effective in improving mental health?🏃‍♀️🚴‍♀️🤸‍♀️

Exercise helps increase our energy levels and boost serotonin in the brain - a chemical that helps to regulate mood, appetite, sleep and memory! It releases endorphins (anti-stress hormones) which help to calm the body and relieve muscle pain during strenuous exercise. Studies suggest exercising 3 - 5 times per week for 30 - 60 minutes is associated with better mental health. The best type of exercise is one that you will actually do - don't forget something is better than nothing!
