Ever had those days that just feel as though you are wrapped up in chaos?
A growing list of jobs undone, house adorned with baby and dog toys.
Admin tasks, once again pushed to the back of the list….

to be honest, some days I feel frustrated and frazzled (yes, I too have those days)

Looking things from a different perspective, I have prioritised precious time with our grandson, laughed and played with Bobby and Lily (our loyal and loving hounds), had the privilege of helping my mum set up her new kitchen and am so grateful to have work that keeps me busy and supports me...

To be grounded is to feel stable, strong, and well-balanced, in body and in mind.

Each yoga practice is an invitation to connect to earth, creating a firm foundation from which we can then begin to expand, find buoyancy and joy.

When planning classes today I have been thinking about my dearest parents who are in the midst of moving home after 24 years on their beautiful property “Linga Longa”

Moving home can be a very unsettling and busy time - exciting too!!

Together this week we will explore breath and movement to help ground you, and bring you back into present moment awareness so that you can meet any challenge with ease

Creating a more stable and even foundation on the mat, taking this stability with us as we move off the mat and into daily life

🧘‍♀️Yoga Nidra is the sublime science of complete relaxation

I’ve never really had too much trouble getting to sleep. Usually by the time my head hits the pillow at night, I’m asleep within minutes

Do I get enough quality sleep?

Considering I get up at 5am most days, this depends very much on when I go to bed! I aim for 9:30pm, but that doesn’t always happen…….
Enter Yoga Nidra

This practice has been a big support for me over many years.
Not only when I haven’t had 7- 8 hours sleep, but in times of increased stress, when I’ve felt a bit run down, actually even when I’m feeling fabulous - as to maintain optimum wellbeing.

What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a state in which the body and mind are completely relaxed, with an effortless conscious awareness.
It is said that the history of Yoga Nidra is as old as Yoga itself

🧘‍♀️ This week on the mat both YIN & YANG classes will include a combination of nourishing & grounding postures finishing with a guided Yoga Nidra, creating the conditions for body, mind and beyond to enter the state of unsurpassed calm

I’ve just returned from 3 delightful days on the Yorke Peninsula, during which beach walking was my movement choice (along with more sedentary practices, such as reading and playing board games)

MOVEMENT practices come in so many shapes and forms and it’s so important to shift gears and move in different ways in order to challenge, strengthen, adapt and regenerate muscles and tissues PLUS the benefits to our brain!

This is one of the reasons our practices together at YOGA GARAGE are so varied.
Yin, Yang, Flow, MFR and lots of fascia based movement classes!

to yoke or unite

Through yoga practice we integrate body, mind and emotions to bring about a state of balance
Yoga teaches us to do what we can without forceful action (regardless of how we are practicing, non force is a non negotiable)
In this way we can shape every practice to suit our individual needs

We live in a fast paced world full of sights, sounds and distractions.
SO much information coming at us from every direction can leave us feeling anxious and overstimulated!

How can we reclaim the calm centre that is within each of us?

Mindful practices such as yoga and meditation, walking or sitting in nature, switching off our phones, tv’s, computers and having a technology break is important too!

Slow down. Breathe.

Step onto your mat and let your practice be the reset your nervous system is asking for.

Warmer weather, seaside therapy and good company PLUS some simple movements to support my lymphatic system have recharged my batteries this week and I’m feeling so very ALIVE!
(Bobbys bucket is also FULL)

This week on the mat together I will share some Tia chi and Qigong inspired movements to prepare us for practice (and for daily life)

Yin and Yang sessions will have a focus on LEGS from Hip to toe (love your legs!)

As adults sometimes we forget how to PLAY.
The joy of exploring new things and tapping into our creativity requires that we let go of the fear of the unknown, a reminder that it’s ok to fail. That in fact losing is winning….

A wise woman once said “we are wired to thrive in the unknown” (thankyou )

In my life I certainly look to embrace opportunities to try new things, learn a new skill or see things from a new perspective

I was so in the zone of play during this morning’s Yang class that class extended out by 15 minutes (oops)

I hope you had a restful long weekend - we certainly had a nourishing time at the beach with our fur babies.... Bobby especially loves being a salty sea dog and relishes every single swim and splash!!

We are looking forward to seeing you in the studio this week where we’ll bring awareness to breath....

We’re back in the studio!

It’s been wonderful to see students back on the mat in our beautiful light filled space 💚

Current Government guidelines allow for 18 people per class, so classes are filling quickly.

The good news is we’re live streaming some of our studio classes so you can join in from home 🏡
