🧠✨ Autism isn’t a straight line.
The “spectrum” as we often imagine it — a line from ‘less’ to ‘more’ autistic — oversimplifies a beautifully complex neurotype.
Autism presents in multitudes of ways that change from person to person. The traditional linear model often reflects a neurotypical bias, highlighting traits that affect how someone “fits in” with the world, while overlooking many others.
Autism isn’t about where someone sits on a line — it’s about how their unique brain experiences and interacts with the world. 🌍💛

Northside Psychology turns 18
Today we’re celebrating 18 years of
Northside Psychology – from one small
clinic in Canberra to a thriving team
across four states.
It all began with a single person (our CEO
& Principal Psychologist, Holly) leasing a
room after returning from overseas (and
even a break-in on day one couldn’t stop
what was to come!).
Since then, we’ve grown, learned,
adapted and stayed true to our purpose:
to provide compassionate, evidencebased care that helps people thrive.
A huge thank you to everyone who’s
been part of this journey; our incredible
team, our wonderful referrers and the
thousands of clients who’ve trusted us
with their care. Here’s to continuing to
grow and support our community for
many more years to come!

💻🌿Telehealth Therapy: Because Your Mental Health Deserves Convenience, too
As the year winds down, life speeds up — work deadlines, travel plans, family gatherings, and that gentle end-of-year fatigue that makes it hard to fit anything else in.
That’s where Telehealth therapy shines ✨
Here’s why it’s one of the most supportive ways to stay connected to your wellbeing right now:
1️⃣ No travel, no stress – skip the traffic, parking, or rushing from work. Log in from home, your office, or even the car (parked, of course!).
2️⃣ Consistency counts – therapy works best with momentum. Telehealth helps you maintain regular sessions even during busy periods or holidays.
3️⃣ Comfort equals openness – being in your own space often helps you feel more relaxed and honest — deepening the therapeutic process.
4️⃣ Accessible support anywhere – whether you’re in Canberra, the coast, or interstate visiting family, your psychologist travels with you (virtually).

📅 So as 2025 wraps up, if life feels full but your mind feels heavy, remember: you don’t need to pause your mental health for the season. You just need good Wi-Fi and a quiet corner. 💻🌿

🏁As 2025 Winds Down: Daily Journaling Might Be the Mental Reset You Need
As the year edges toward its close, our minds get crowded — goals half-ticked, to-do lists half-finished, and emotions quietly piling up.
🖋️ Journaling isn’t just about writing; it’s about making sense of what’s been, and making space for what’s next.
Here’s why even a few lines a day can shift your mental health:
1️⃣ Declutters your thoughts — getting words out of your head reduces rumination and anxiety.
2️⃣ Improves mood awareness — you start noticing patterns in how stress, sleep, and habits connect.
3️⃣ Supports goal clarity — reflection helps realign with what truly matters before stepping into 2026.
4️⃣ Boosts resilience — naming emotions engages the brain’s regulation systems, helping you respond, not react.
Try this gentle daily prompt to close out the year:
“What do I want to let go of — and what do I want to carry forward?”
🌿 Start small. 5 minutes, one page, or even a single sentence.
Because journaling isn’t about being perfect — it’s about being present.

Your relationship does not need to be broken to benefit from therapy. 💬❤️

Relationship therapy isn’t just for crisis points.
It’s for couples and families who want to:
✔️ Communicate better (without shutting down or blowing up)
✔️ Understand each other more deeply
✔️ Repair old hurts and build new trust
✔️ Break out of stuck, painful patterns
✔️ Feel more connected—emotionally, physically, and mentally

Whether you're navigating conflict, parenting challenges, or just feeling disconnected, therapy offers a structured, supportive space to grow together—not apart. 🛠️🧠

💡 The strongest relationships aren’t the ones without problems.
They’re the ones where both people feel safe enough to work on them—together.

✨ You don’t have to figure it all out alone.
✨ You don’t have to wait for it to “get worse.”
✨ You don’t even have to have the words yet. Just the willingness.

You don’t need a perfect relationship. You just need two people willing to work through the hard stuff. 💬💛

Real talk:
All relationships go through stress, miscommunication, and moments of disconnect. That’s not failure—that’s normal.

What matters most isn’t avoiding difficulty…
It’s what you do when it shows up.

🌱 Do you shut down or lean in?
🌱 Do you blame—or get curious?
🌱 Do you defend—or ask, “What’s happening for you right now?”

✨ The truth?
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need *willingness*:
🛠️ Willingness to try
🧠 Willingness to listen
❤️ Willingness to grow—even when it’s uncomfortable

In therapy, don’t aim for "perfect.”
Aim for authentic, courageous connection—the kind built by two people showing up, again and again, even when it's hard.
