Dear Canberrans.
If you applied for a position as a Support Worker with my business, "You The Conqueror" that was advertised within the last few days on Indeed.com, PLEASE DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS that are sent to you via your phone. DO NOT send any photos of your medicare card or your drivers license number. This ad is a scam. The IP addresses were from USA and UK.
Please be assured that there is no position available, and my business doesn't employ support workers, and it never has.
I have spent the past 2 hours on the phone to my web host, and we have intercepted and deleted the fake email address. There were a few emails from "applicants" but these emails have not been opened. I am hoping that the email account was deleted in time.
I am devastated, I have changed all my passwords and I suggest that if you have been affected (applied for the job advertised) that you do the same. PLEASE do not click on any messaged links.
I have contacted the police but it doesn't look like they can do anything as the ip address is overseas.
Indeed.com have pulled down the ad and they have assured me that it was only online for a couple of hours.
Thankyou to the people who called my phone number to check the validity of the job, and who alerted me to the scam.
Please accept my sincere condolences that this has happened. Unfortunately this is our new reality.
PLEASE feel free to copy this message and post on your pages so I can reach more people to warn them.
Thankyou for your understanding
