Creative Kids Therapy

Creative Kids Therapy Provides therapeutic creative counselling to kids, teens and parents. It offers a safe place to g*i I am also trained in Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping).

Using a range of techniques in my counselling, I have found creative arts therapy, including sandplay therapy, combined with other ‘talking’ therapies, extremely powerful and effective. Kids and teens find these techniques very engaging and playful, whilst learning strategies to cope, and getting a better understanding of how to be. Parents are intrigued by the process, the self discovery and personal development. Being creative in my counselling, gives individuals a sense of a relaxed space where they can let down any guards and be open to exploring the process. Some common reasons for seeking out a Counsellor:
• Behaviour and Mood changes
• Grief and loss
• Parents have separated
• Depressed, anxious, stressed
• Struggling with school, Bullying
• Problems making friends
• Anger management
• Issues with siblings, family change with new baby
• Relationships with parents
• A significant trauma
• Self-esteem issue
• Self-harming

This Easter long weekend felt a little slower with, no real plans locked in 🙏🏼😍

While it has felt a bit weird not being away camping,
I’ve also really enjoyed the change.

Having the time to just go with the flow of what feels right on the day ✨

It’s been a really nice way to start the school holidays 🙌

Hope you all had a lovely Easter, whatever it looked like for you 🐣🐰💚

When trying something new is hard 😬

A lot of the time, it’s not just the situation itself, it’s not knowing what to expect. 🤷🏻‍♀️

That uncertainty can make things feel even harder.

Helping kids understand:

✨ Where they’re going
✨ What it might look like
✨ Who will be there
✨ How they’ll get there
✨ What supports they might need

So the whole situation starts to feel more possible.

Then they can go in feeling like, “I’ve got this.” 👏 💚

Who knew paper planes could release big emotions ✨

Kids often don’t want to just sit and talk about what’s bothering them.

They need a way to show it through creativity and movement.

In this session, we decided to make paper planes. We started by adding colour and patterns to our paper.

Making it our own.

Before turning them into paper planes and heading outside to fly them.

As we threw them, I invited her to imagine something she wanted to let go of. 💫

I started by modelling it myself…
“I’m letting go of feeling angry.”

That seemed to give her the space to join in and share what she needed to let go of. 🙏🏼

As we took turns throwing the paper planes and saying what we wanted to release, I could see a shift 😍

She looked more empowered. You could see it in her whole body. 🙌

That physical act of releasing, throwing, moving and letting go.

What a powerful way for kids to process big emotions. 🥰

Bringing together art, movement and expression in such a simple yet highly effective way ✨

What do you reckon? Epic fail or win? 🤔

Nearly ready to test this out 👀

Still waiting on one last ingredient… but I couldn’t help myself sharing where I’m up to 😆

Have you ever made putty before?

Or anything similar? I’d love to hear what worked (or didn’t!) 👇

A packet of lollies to share, the canteen and friends racing got him over the line 🙌

As today was getting closer I started to hear I just don’t like running. Hmm really, well maybe the races 🤷🏻‍♀️

Last week I said to him if he didn’t want to do it, we need to let his sports teacher know.

And if he feels the same next year, he doesn’t have to even try out.

No pressure.

But today he went and competed!!

✨ 2nd place in hurdles
✨ 3rd in 100m sprint (a very close one!)
✨ 3rd in relay — and he ran first and won his leg 🙌

Before hurdles he had a couple of practice jumps and then said to himself,

“I’ve got this” then he was racing 👌

The thing is I was there for parts of the day to watch, he was actually happy and enjoying it.

What I loved was seeing him throw himself into it and give it his all.

But mostly… the courage to do something when you don’t really feel like it.

So proud of him and he was chuffed with himself 💗

Screen time battles? 🙈

Getting kids off screens isn’t always just about behaviour.

Often they are so absorbed in what they’re doing, which makes that transition feel hard.

One thing that can help is focusing on connection before you redirect.

Taking a moment to come alongside them, get into their world.

Then help guide them to what’s next, whether that’s a timer, a heads up, or another activity idea.

It often isn’t easy, but it can be a way to help 🙏🏼💚

A lot going on today… and still backing our teachers 🪧🙌

Kids home, clients, emails, a Masterclass,
helping a friend with a photoshoot here at home (and ended up in it too 😅),
clients at my other clinic, and dropping my daughter off to hang with her BF.

Thankfully Nan… my Mum came to help out with my son 🙏🏼

Yesterday, my daughter needed a day off and a trip to the chiro,

My son also had what we call an ADO — Archie Day Off… just coz 🙄 - this tends to happen when my hubby has an RDO! 😆

While I’m not a fan of screen time on a school day,
there’s definitely been a bit of YouTube on the TV while I’ve been working.

But when I said he needed a break, he made this Tech Deck skate park out on the deck —

“Mum, come look 👀”

It’s only Tuesday, but it’s already feeling like school holidays have come early here 🙃

If your kids were home today, or went to work with you,

I hope your day’s been ok… and just a reminder you’re not alone 🙏🏼💚

Didn’t know what to expect… but it was so much fun 😅💃

My sister and I headed down to St Kilda beach yesterday morning… not really knowing what we were in for 🤔

3 hours later — 5km walk/run, Zumba, dancing… and lots of sweat, it was really hot 🥵😅

Ran into a friend I hadn’t seen in ages, and made a new friend instantly 🥹💛

No alcohol.
Just music, movement and connection.

This is what The Morning Drop is all about — a free event bringing community and like-minded people together 🙌

And honestly… it felt really, really good.

I’ll definitely be back 👏💚

Still learning as I bring something new to life 💛

There’s so much that goes on behind the scenes when creating something like this…

Today, in between seeing clients, I had a strategy call with SHE-com Community For Women in Ecommerce which gave me a few things to think about — around my vision, pricing and launching. It was a really valuable session, thank you Ella 💛

However, if I’m honest… it can feel a bit overwhelming at times. 🤯

Thank f@&k for my mentors We Breathe Success for catching me when I’m falling and helping me find my direction 🙏🏼

There’s a lot I’m still figuring out as I go.

But I also know WHY I’m doing this.

I believe in these kits and know how much they help kids when they feel overwhelmed.

So even when it’s a lot on my plate… and there are days where it all feels too heavy 😔

The next day can feel completely different — where things seem to land and feel a lot easier 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ll keep going…
because I can see and feel how close it is now 🙌💚

Getting dressed for school can be a real struggle for some kids… 👕💛

A gentle reminder of how much the nervous system plays a role in those tricky school mornings.

It’s so important to support the body first —
and sometimes this can be as simple as movement and play to help settle and regulate.

Small things like this can make such a difference…

And remembering too, there isn’t one set way —
every child is different.
Feel free to share what’s worked for you 💛
