We are proud to be a fully bulk-billing general practice, and our mission is to eliminate barriers to healthcare and make it more accessible for all. As you may have heard in the news, the Department of Health has introduced new incentives for certain age groups that previously did not have access to bulk billing, effective November 1st.

While this change does not affect our existing billing policies—since we already offer bulk billing for all age groups—we would like to emphasize the importance of our patients being registered with My Medicare and nominating us as their regular practice. This registration is essential for accessing certain services, including care plans, mental health care plans, telehealth services, and more.

Please discuss your registration with our team if you choose to nominate us as your regular practice. Thank you for your continued trust in our health care.

RIP🖤, Father of General Practice!

Vale Emeritus Professor John Murtagh AO

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Emeritus Professor John Murtagh AO – a towering figure in Australian general practice.

His seminal textbook, John Murtagh’s General Practice, guided generations of GPs from medical school through training and beyond. John had a rare gift for making complex concepts and practical procedures clear, accessible and engaging.

His legacy with the College is profound:
• Editor of the RACGP’s scientific journal, Australian Family Physician, for nearly a decade in the 1980s and 1990s
• The RACGP’s John Murtagh Library named in his honour in 2005
• Awarded Life Fellowship of the RACGP in 2007

John was finalising the ninth edition of his textbook when he passed – a testament to his lifelong dedication to teaching and to general practice.

Our deepest sympathies to his wife Jill, his children and the Murtagh family. An era has ended, and his contribution will endure.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Rishaal Sharma to the TopDoctors Group! A graduate of medical school in Fiji in 2013, Dr. Sharma has amassed a wealth of clinical experience across diverse specialties. His extensive training includes Orthopaedic Surgery, General Medicine, and Emergency Medicine in Australia, as well as General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Rural General Practice in Fiji.

Fluent in both English and Hindi, Dr. Rishaal is deeply committed to delivering patient-centered care. He strives to create a supportive environment where he can build lasting relationships with his patients, promoting their ongoing health and well-being.

Dr. Rishaal and his wife are previously known colleagues of Dr. Arash, and they have settled in Bribie Island, where they are excited to engage with and contribute to the local community.

When he’s not practicing medicine, Dr. Rishaal enjoys spending quality time with his family, gardening, walking, and exploring new places.

Dr. Sarah has a special passion for skin cancer medicine and surgery, preventive health, women’s health, pediatrics, and chronic disease management. Her patient-centered and culturally sensitive approach ensures that individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout their health journeys.
