New Chapter Support provides three services:

Short-Term and Emergency Accomodation:
Emergency and Planned Respite tailored for your needs. New Chapter Support is committed to providing the highest quality of work on a timely and cost-effective basis meeting participant and authority requirements. Supported Independent Living:
We aim to provide the best independent living option that suits your individual needs. We believe in the power of ideas, the courage to challenge former ways of doing things, the willingness to change and the fact that every individual has a voice. Community Access:
New Chapter Support has a strong focus on empowering, encouraging and enabling our participants to have a presence in the community, work towards their goals and create a resilient and empowered community in partnership to support people with disability become independent and make informed choices. Our community access programs are tailored and designed to meet individual needs. The programs are focused on skill development and increasing opportunities within the community.

As we approach the end of the year, we would like to take a moment to thank our participants, families, nominees, and wider community for your continued trust and support throughout the year. We are grateful to be part of your journey and appreciate being welcomed into your lives.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our incredible staff for their dedication, compassion, and commitment throughout the year. The care and support you provide every day make a real difference, and we are truly grateful for everything you do.

🌟 New Pages: Ma Lay’s Journey with New Chapter 🌟

Ma Lay has been part of the New Chapter community for over four years, supported consistently by our Karen Community support workers. During her time with us, she has built strong connections, felt supported, and been an important part of our community. 💫

Recently, Ma Lay made the big decision to relocate to Melbourne to be closer to her family and begin a new chapter in her life. While she is excited for what lies ahead, this was not an easy choice, as she has always been very happy with the care, support, and relationships she has formed at New Chapter. ✈️

To help make her transition as smooth and comfortable as possible, careful planning took place with the support of her Coordinator. Connections were made with a new provider in Melbourne who has Karen-speaking support workers, ensuring Ma Lay will continue to feel understood, supported, and safe as she settles into her new surroundings. 🤝

Before her departure, Ma Lay joined us at the New Chapter End of Year BBQ. She enjoyed spending time with staff and participants, with her support worker assisting with translation so she could connect and share in the day. She also attended a special morning tea at the New Chapter office, where Karen participants and support staff came together to share stories, enjoy time together, and wish her well. Ma Lay shared that she was excited for her move, while also feeling sad to say goodbye. 🤍

Ma Lay will be leaving just before the New Year to begin her new adventure in Melbourne with her family and new support team. While she will be deeply missed, we are so proud of her courage and wish her every happiness as she takes this next step. 🙌

Ma Lay, you will always hold a special place in the New Chapter community, and we wish you all the best as you begin your new adventure 💛

🌟 New Pages: Wayne’s Journey with New Chapter 🌟

Wayne has been on an incredible creative journey since joining New Chapter. With weekly community access support, he has been building the confidence and skills to turn his passion for jewellery-making into something real. Each week he has been learning new techniques, trying new ideas, and growing his small business dreams. 💪✨

Over time, Wayne has picked up the basics of running a business, from tracking expenses to organising invoices, all while refining his designs. His hobby has slowly transformed into a growing craft, and it has been amazing to watch his talent shine. ⭐

Wayne recently took a brave leap forward by running his own stall at the Cygnet Community Markets! He prepared carefully for the day, bought his own stall setup, created a beautiful display, and organised payment options. Even with a wet and windy morning, Wayne stayed upbeat. He chatted with locals, shared the stories behind his pieces, and proudly made several sales to the community. By the end of the day he was beaming with pride. It was an exciting milestone and a truly rewarding achievement. 🙌

Since the market, Wayne has been more excited than ever. He is already planning to attend more markets over summer, grow his business, meet new people, and keep exploring what he can achieve next. His confidence is blossoming, his creativity is flourishing, and he is discovering possibilities that once felt out of reach. 💫

All of us at New Chapter are so proud of Wayne and everything he is accomplishing. His journey reminds us that big progress often starts with one brave step, and Wayne is taking every opportunity with determination and heart. 💖

We are excited to re-introduce one of our favourite series that celebrates the incredible individuals who make up our New Chapter team.

Welcome back to New Chapter Champions, where we shine a light on the people who bring heart, compassion and positivity to our community.

Today, we are thrilled to introduce another one of our amazing Champions, Cholpon. ✨

Cholpon joined New Chapter in late 2023 and has been a wonderful presence within our team ever since. She is admired for her kind nature, her commitment to the people she supports and the genuine joy she brings to everyday moments. One of the things we appreciate most is how beautifully she shares the awesome experiences she and our participants get up to, helping our whole community feel connected and included.

It’s part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, a simple yet powerful way for people with non-visible disabilities to signal that they may need a little extra time, understanding, or support.

Hidden disabilities can include things like autism, anxiety, hearing loss, or chronic pain — conditions that aren’t always visible, but are just as real.

Hobart Airport and many other locations across Australia proudly recognise the sunflower, helping make everyday experiences and travel more inclusive, understanding, and kind. 🌻
