Ever spotted someone wearing a sunflower lanyard? Here’s what it really means. 👇

It’s part of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Program, a simple yet powerful way for people with non-visible disabilities to signal that they may need a little extra time, understanding, or support.

Hidden disabilities can include things like autism, anxiety, hearing loss, or chronic pain — conditions that aren’t always visible, but are just as real.

Hobart Airport and many other locations across Australia proudly recognise the sunflower, helping make everyday experiences and travel more inclusive, understanding, and kind. 🌻

📖 New Pages | Kate's Journey Since Joining New Chapter ✨

At New Chapter, every journey is unique — and Kate’s story is one of courage, growth, and rediscovered confidence. 💛

When Kate first joined New Chapter, she was understandably cautious. Having faced challenges with past supports, trusting new people and tackling paperwork didn’t come easily. But over the past few months, Kate has shown incredible determination to turn things around — and the results have been inspiring. 🌟

With the support of her dedicated Support Worker, Cholpon, Kate has started to flourish. Together, they’ve explored creative places like art galleries and museums, which Kate says “open her imagination.” These outings have quickly become something she looks forward to every week.

Recently, Kate set herself a new goal — to find part-time work and support her health and wellbeing. With Cholpon’s encouragement, she re-typed and updated her CV and confidently delivered copies to local businesses. Each step has helped Kate grow in confidence and independence. 💪

Kate shared that she now feels more comfortable completing forms, more decisive in her choices, and happier with the direction her life is heading. Those around her have noticed her transformation too — she’s more energised, positive, and proud of what she’s achieving.

Kate’s journey is a powerful reminder that progress often begins with small, consistent steps — and with support, self-belief, and patience, amazing change can happen. 💫

We are so impressed by the incredible progress Kate is making, and we can’t wait to see her continue to smash her goals and achieve even more great things ahead. 💛
