Tips for Surviving Christmas 🎄
Feasting sometimes begins early December and continues till mid-late January – by then you can’t zip up your jeans!
We know it’s hard to stay on track this time of year, whether you're maintaining or trying to lose weight. So many parties, so much food! How do you let your hair down without winding up a lardy ball of regret by New Year?
Don’t throw it all out the window ….. Small steps on maintaining your focus and remembering why you are on this journey to begin with are important.
Plan, plan, plan
• Review your calendar and your plans – think about strategies before you go anywhere
• Consider what festive foods mean ‘’Christmas to you, focus only on those foods and don’t eat things that are not important to you just for the sake of it.
• portion control with the festive foods
• Bulk out the meals with salad and vegetables
• Volunteer to be designated driver to avoid alcohol calories
Mindful Strategies
• Eat a good breakfast & give yourself a good start to the day.
• Choose the most low calorie options when at functions.
• Alternate alcoholic drinks with water or soda water.
• Practice saying “that was delicious but I'll pass on seconds” thanks.
• Avoid nibbling pre meals
• Savour every mouthful
Shop carefully
Treat Christmas food shopping like any other week of the year: plan your meals and buy only what you need.
Keep moving
Often gyms are closed, classes are not on or your walking buddy is busy
So consider shifting your normal exercise regime, by starting the day with a brisk walk or completing your home program before breakfast.
Finally, make sure your appointments are booked in for January, so that we can help you to get back on track, as soon as possible. 😀
