Today was the day we trained for all year… and even though we didn’t run all the way we covered 12km in just over 90 mins I think. I’ll let you know when the official time gets released.
It was a very rainy run, I think it rained for 10 of the 12kms. We got absolutely soaked. It wasn’t cold while we were running but it didn’t take long to cool down once we had finished 🥶 A great big thank you to Shelley for printing our awesome t shirts, we got a lot of comments (all good) about them… and best of all we did get a free banana. And Flynn is keen to do it again next year. 🏃‍♀️😊

Only one week to go to City to Bay.
Buddy joined us for our runs this weekend, it turns out he is a very good running buddy.
The 3 of us ran 3.5km on Saturday. I wanted to make sure my hip would be ok (and it was).
Sunday we did interval training and covered 6.5km along the esplanade from Port noarlunga to Christies beach and back. It was beautiful, there were heaps of people and dogs out and about. Buddy handled all the dogs very well, he was not distracted from his run for anyone or anything. 😂
Will let you all know how Flynn and I go covering 12km next Sunday. Wish us luck.

It’s been a few weeks since I posted our running progress mainly because progress has come to a standstill. I strained a muscle in my hip a couple of weeks ago so had to rest it… urgh!!!
I’m not overly good at resting.
We went for a run last week and my hip was really sore after, so no running for the week….
Good news we went running yesterday and my hip was perfectly fine. Yes I will still be taking it slowly for the next couple of weeks because city to bay is coming up.
Flynn of course has been a little champion. Well not so little really.
He is now wearing headphones so running with music which I think makes it so much better. He needs to download himself a running playlist now. 😊

It was perfect running weather this weekend. We did parkrun on Saturday and another personal best. My time was 34.47 so a few seconds better than last week, Flynn was about 5 seconds on front of me. We also saw dolphins 🐬, which is always wonderful.
Sunday we decided we would run the Seacliff parkrun course. We were about 3/4 finished when my right hip decided I wasn’t running anymore today… urgh, so frustrating. I gave Flynn the option of walking with me or finishing the run on his own, and the champion he is, he chose to finish the run. I’m so proud of how far he has come, 6 months ago he was complaining about running for 30 seconds. ❤️ His time today was around 34 mins, I was 38 mins.

Last weekend we didn’t get a run in at all…. The weather was just against us. We did our 3rd parkrun on Saturday. We managed to get another personal best, with a time of 34.54 mins. Nearly 2 mins faster than last time. Flynn came 1st in his age group, what a champion. I came 5th in mine.
Next week we might try a different parkrun!! If any of you have done parkrun and have a favourite me know.

We managed to get 2 runs in this weekend. We did our 2nd Parkrun on Saturday. It was horrendously windy at Christie’s beach, but we managed. Our time was 36.18mins. Flynn came 2nd in his age group and I came 6th in mine. Not that we are competitive but both of us want to get under 30 mins and come in 1st in our age group.
With that in mind Flynn asked today if we can train to be able to run 5km without stopping. So we went back to following the c25k app. My Achilles has been really good so I’m taking the increases in running at a much slower pace than I normally would and my body is thanking me for it.
Today’s run was 5min warm up, 3min run, 1.30 min walk, 5min run, 2.30 min walk, 3min run, 1.30min walk, 5 min run, 5 min cooldown. We covered 4.2 kms in 31 mins. Won’t be long and we will be running the full 5km.
I’m super happy that Flynn still wants to come out running with me and is now setting his own running goals. 😊🏃‍♀️
