Yogabellingen Yoga Studio in beautiful Bellingen

25/03/2026

Starting Tuesday, April 7th, we will begin our practice of the Synergy Vinyasa Water Sequence.
Water is the second of the five sequences, arriving as the year settles into rhythm and the season begins to shift toward cooler temperatures. As an essential element, water connects and supports all others — both in nature and within the body. It moves through us as blood, lymph, and fluid systems, carrying nutrients, regulating temperature, supporting immunity, and facilitating communication throughout the body. This sequence is designed to support that same sense of flow and adaptability, helping to build resilience as we move toward the winter months.
Over the course of nine weeks, we’ll explore a progressive and integrated practice that weaves together physical yoga, breathwork, meditation, and relaxation. Practising consistently in this way offers a powerful opportunity to observe both physical and mental changes — developing strength, mobility, and coordination in the body, alongside greater steadiness and ease in the mind.
The intention of the Water Sequence is transformation through fluid, graceful movement — cultivating both softness and strength.
Synergy Vinyasa is a dynamic yet balanced practice, leaving you feeling both energised and grounded after each class.
If you attend regularly across the nine weeks, you’ll learn a complete sequence that can support a sustainable personal practice wherever you are. That said, even occasional attendance will offer a well-rounded and beneficial experience.
Class times:
Monday 6:30pm
Tuesday 9:30am
Friday 6:00am and 9.30am (intermediate/ advanced level)
Sunday 7:00am
Classes are available both in-studio and online. Bookings can be made via yogabellingen.com

Assisting & Adjusting for Yoga Teachers
April 11 and 12 - in person at YogaBellingen
Touch can be one of the most powerful tools we have as teachers.
When offered skilfully, it supports personalised learning — helping students feel where they are in space, understand a posture more clearly, and experience their practice in a more embodied way.
But we also know that the history of hands-on adjustments in yoga has not always been safe or appropriate.
There have been times where touch has been imposed rather than invited, and where a lack of awareness around trauma, injury and consent has led to harm.
As a teaching community, we have an opportunity to learn from this.
To move toward an approach that is:
• respectful and consent-based
• collaborative rather than directive
• responsive to the individual in front of us
• grounded in both anatomy and awareness
This weekend training is an exploration of how to work with touch in a way that is clear, compassionate and trauma-aware.
You’ll learn how to:
• observe bodies and recognise patterns of tension
• support students through thoughtful, appropriate assists
• work safely with injuries and different capacities
• use touch as a way to guide awareness — not impose form
Across the weekend we’ll move from foundations and ethics into hands-on practice with standing, seated and more complex postures — always with an emphasis on listening, consent and care.
Led by Amelia Disspain and Liz Bennett, this training offers a grounded and intelligent approach to assisting that supports both teacher confidence and student safety.

Online training is wonderful. It’s flexible, accessible and allows you to learn at your own pace, in your own space.
But there is something irreplaceable about being in the room together.
Hands-on assisting is a relational skill. It asks you to feel, observe, listen and respond in real time. In-person training gives you the opportunity to practise touch with guidance, receive feedback immediately, collaborate with other teachers and experience what supportive, ethical touch actually feels like in your own body.
Connection helps to deepen learning and collaboration and community sustains it.
Join us for Assisting and Adjusting for Yoga Teachers — a practical, thoughtful two-day immersion at YogaBellingen.
Across April 11–12, you’ll explore:
• Observation and reading bodies with clarity
• Ethics and trauma-informed touch
• Breath connection practices
• Assisting standing and floor-based postures
• Working intelligently with holding patterns and injuries
• Supporting more complex shapes such as wheel, handstand and forearm balance
Led by senior teacher Amelia Disspain alongside yoga therapist and physiotherapist Liz Bennett, this weekend is designed for newly graduated teachers and experienced teachers ready to refine and up-level their skills.
You’ll leave with greater confidence in your hands, a clearer understanding of when and how to assist, and the experience of being part of a supportive teaching community.

March Byron Hinterland Yoga Retreat
📍 BlueGreen Sanctuary | 11–16 March 2026
It’s been an intense start to the year. For so many of us, it’s easy to keep pushing — moving from one commitment to the next without ever really stopping. This retreat is an invitation to pause. To step out of the momentum, create space, and remember who you are underneath the busyness, the roles and the constant doing.
March is a beautiful time for this kind of reset. The energy naturally turns inward, making it easier to reflect, to listen, and to reconnect with what actually nourishes you.
Our retreats are open to all levels of yoga experience. After more than ten years of running retreats together, we know how to meet people where they are. Morning practices are progressive and dynamic, evening sessions are deeply restorative, and everything is offered with options so you can practice in a way that feels supportive rather than demanding.
There is spaciousness woven through each day. Time to sit by the pool, walk among the trees, rest, journal, enjoy the sauna or cold plunge, or simply be quiet. There are moments of shared silence, balanced with heartfelt connection — meals together, conversations by the fire, and the ease that comes from being in community with like-minded people.
BlueGreen Sanctuary is a truly nurturing place — five acres of lush hinterland, a purpose-built yoga studio, swimming pools and beautiful accommodation designed for deep rest. You’ll be nourished with organic meals prepared by Byron Bay chef Aja Schofield, and there’s the option to book massage or facials with Jodi from Byron Spa to support you even more deeply.
If you’ve been feeling tired, stretched, or a little disconnected — this last space may be exactly what you need.
🌿 Single occupancy $3800
🌿 Twin share $3000 each

We are so happy to finally share this with you.
In March 2027 we will be holding our very first Balanced Practice Yoga Retreat in Kerala, South India.

March 15–21, 2027
Kerala, India

After many years of teaching and travelling together, returning to India to hold retreat feels deeply meaningful — a homecoming to the land where Yoga and Ayurveda were born. Kerala offers a rare kind of nourishment: tropical beauty, ancient healing traditions, and a rhythm of life that invites presence, wonder, and ease.
Our retreat will be held at Neeleshwar Hermitage on the Malabar Coast, where days unfold with steady, balanced yoga, breath and meditation, Ayurvedic wisdom, exquisite food, and time to rest beside the sea. This is a journey designed to restore clarity, vitality, and connection — not just while you’re away, but long after you return home.
We would love to share this special pilgrimage with you — a week of practice, healing, and reflection in one of the most nurturing landscapes in the world.

Australia Day Long Weekend Timetable
Here’s what’s happening at the studio over the long weekend — a beautiful chance to keep your practice steady and perhaps linger a little longer on the mat.
Friday starts early with 6am Synergy Vinyasa, a strong, intelligent flow to build heat, strength, and focus, followed by 8am Slow Flow, a softer, more spacious practice to ease into the day. In the evening, 5pm Yin Yoga offers deep release and nervous system calm.
Saturday brings 7am Intermediate Yoga, a dynamic class for those with an established practice, and 9am Hatha Yoga, a grounding, alignment-focused practice to steady and clarify.
Sunday is an invitation to immerse yourself. Begin with 7am Synergy Vinyasa, then continue with 8.45am Slow Flow, and finish with 10am Pranayama. Attending Slow Flow followed by Pranayama turns the morning into a gentle mini retreat — time to move, breathe, and settle deeply before heading into the week ahead.
Please note that all classes are cancelled on Monday 26 January for the public holiday.
We’d love to see you on the mat this long weekend 🤍

Two rooms left ✨ March Byron Hinterland Yoga Retreat

We have just two rooms remaining on our March retreat at BlueGreen Sanctuary in the Byron Hinterland. This retreat usually sells out, and these final spaces are a beautiful opportunity to join us for five deeply nourishing days in nature.
Both rooms are available as single occupancy or twin share.

March is such a supportive time of year to step away, soften your pace, and take stock. It’s a moment to reflect on habits, make gentle changes, and allow yourself to rest after the outward momentum of summer. A time to come back to centre.
From 11–16 March 2026, join Liz Bennett and Amelia Disspain for our Balanced Practice Yoga Retreat, a total escape into yogic living. Each day includes morning dynamic practices and evening soothing sessions, alongside meditation, philosophy, and Ayurvedic lifestyle workshops that offer practical tools you can carry back into everyday life.

We’ll be held by the beauty of BlueGreen Sanctuary, nestled amongst rainforest and open sky, with exclusive use of the property. Between practices there is time to wander the grounds, read by the pool, sit by the fire at night, enjoy the sauna and cold plunge, or simply rest into the quiet. You’ll be lovingly nourished with organic vegetarian meals prepared by Byron Bay chef Aja Schofield, designed to support radiant health and deep restoration.
This retreat is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and remember what truly sustains you.

New Year Sadhana Series

Begin the year with clarity, strength, and intention.

There is something powerful about the ritual of a new beginning. As we step into a fresh year, we’re offered a moment to pause, reflect, and consciously choose how we want to move forward. This special three-class series is designed to support you in welcoming the year with purpose, grounding, and renewed energy.
Across each 2-hour session, you’ll be guided through:
✨ Meditation to centre the mind and reconnect with inner steadiness
✨ Yogic breathwork (pranayama) to cleanse, balance, and awaken your energy
✨ A transformative, strengthening asana practice to build stability, mobility, and resilience — physically and mentally
These classes offer a thoughtful blend of strength, depth, and stillness, helping you set up supportive habits and a clear intention for the year ahead.
The series is suitable for all yoga practitioners — from newer students to long-time yogis — with variations and modifications offered throughout so you can practise safely and confidently.
Pricing
• $40 per class $110 for all three

Come to one session, or dive into the full series for a more integrated experience.
Those who attend all three can expect to feel more masterful in their practice, more grounded in their intention, and more energised in their daily life as you step into the year ahead.

There’s something I really love about this time of year in the yoga studio ✨
People arrive a little more relaxed, a little less rushed. Families are visiting, loved ones come along to class, and the space feels fuller — not just with bodies, but with connection.
Many people are tired from the long year behind them, and somehow that makes the practice land even more deeply. You can feel the collective exhale when everyone realises just how good it feels to slow down, breathe, move, and be held by a shared rhythm.
It’s also a time when people seem to appreciate each other more — the quiet conversations, the smiles, the sense of being in this together.
This season always reminds me why yoga matters — not just for the body, but for the way it gently brings us back to ourselves and to one another 🤍
