We rarely arrive at the gym empty.

We drag in all the things no one else sees... the mental load, the heartbreak, the fear, the pressure, the silent heaviness.

And the barbell becomes our reset…our exhale.
It is our reminder that strength lives in us even on the days we feel anything but strong.

Today was a day I had the “energy”. The kind of delicious energy that comes with proper restful sleep, ideal nutrition, right time in my cycle and a workout partner keen to hit the gym. So I could hit the intensity and give the new 17.5kgs a run 😉

These workouts create the discipline I need to keep moving my body when it’s not easy, when my energy is low. Consistently showing up for myself… and my clients ❤️

I’m 47. Perimenopause has officially entered the chat...and she didn’t knock first. She kicked the damn door down in rage.

If someone had told me that one day I’d cry over the smallest inconvenience, forget why I walked into a room, sleep in 20-minute intervals, and lift heavy s**t for therapy... I’d have laughed. But here I am.

I see you.
I see the mood swings that make you question your personality.
The brain fog that should come with severe weather warnings.
The moments you think, “Is this really me?”

“How long does perimenopause last?”
Apparently years. YEARS. Fantastic.

“Why do I wake up and think someone set the bed on fire?” Hormones. Because they like to party at 2 a.m.

“Why can’t I sleep?” Because my body’s like, “Let’s think about everything that ever happened, ever.”

“Why does my body feel different even though I train and eat well?” Because perimenopause is like puberty... but with bills, teenagers and less patience.

But you know what? When I train... when I lift something heavy, when I fuel properly, when I breathe like I mean it... I remember who I am.

Here’s what I’ve learned: strength training is the only thing keeping me from losing my mind entirely. The gym has become my anchor... when I am training, all I can focus on is lifting the weight.

Strength training isn’t about chasing abs or PBs right now; it’s about stability when everything else is shifting. My muscles are holding me together while my hormones try to pull me apart. Food is medicine, lifting is therapy and protein is my best friend.

I’m not superhuman. I’m just a woman doing her best to keep showing up... tired, emotional, laughing, swearing, sweating... but still standing strong.

If you’re in this season too, I see you. I stand with you. I will lift you with me.

You’re not crazy. You’re not weak. You’re just in transition. I call it my "Villian Era" where truth bombs are dropping at an alarming rate. And while it’s messy and unfair and sometimes hilarious… you’re still you. Gloriously you.

Still showing up.
Still lifting through it. LOUDLY!

Strength training is my sanity right now.

Big news from Team Gunn!

Something exciting is happening behind the scenes… Layth has officially enrolled in Cert IV in Fitness.

That means two things:

1. You’ll start seeing him pop up in sessions, shadowing me for his mentor hours. (Yes, I get to boss him around officially now 😏).
2. DG Fitness is growing quickly... and I couldn’t be prouder to mentor my incredible husband through this journey so we can help even more people.

What makes this even more special is that Layth has been here from day one... he is the muscle that makes it all happen, helping me build DG Fitness behind the scenes. I could not have built this without his unconditional support.

Now he gets to step into the spotlight, learning the science, the sweat and the spirit it takes to coach clients to success... and trust me, I’ll be sharing plenty of our mentor–student (and wife–husband) moments along the way to keep you all entertained.

Stay tuned… this is just the beginning of something special 💛

Don't carbs get a nasty rap? And some of them should! But not all carbs are created equal.

How many carbs you need to eat will depend on your overall goals, stage of life and training schedule. However, you should consume carbs to ensure your brain stays healthy and you hit the intensity in training to see your desired results.

Fuel with complex whole carbs and ditch the ultra-processed packaged nasties. Complex whole carbs also pack a fibre punch!

"I can't do it, it is too hard" Ask yourself what this belief is protecting your from? Fear of failure? Fear of looking like a beginner? Feeling it is easier to stay the same?

Admitting these behaviours don't serve you, is not weakness. It is awareness.

Meet your needs with love and compassion. Watch your inner dialogue change x

Meet Donna Gunn

So you maybe wondering… Who is Donna Gunn?

I am a Wife, a Mum to 5 beautiful children and a registered Rapid Transformational Therapy Practitioner. I have lived through many painful life events from the su***de of my brother, losing my Dad to terminal illness and a separation with children. The courage required to rise above these life events combined with my qualification in RTT, and over 20 years in corporate leadership roles in the mining sector, culminated in Unleash the Warrior being born.

This tribe of warriors are dedicated to helping as many people as possible, live their best lives without it being a financial burden or taking years to achieve. I believes that everyone has an inner warrior, and the best version of themselves is just waiting to be unleashed.

Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT) was founded by Marisa Peer. This powerful therapy is a hybrid of hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT and talk therapy. RTT’s technique is based on the scientific phenomenon of neuroplasticity, which helps my clients literally rewire their minds for incredible, rapid and permanent results.
